Xiaomi SU7 Design Revealed: Inspired by BMW & Mercedes

Today, Xiaomi Auto’s official Weibo announced the upcoming launch of the “Xiaomi Auto Designers Have What to Say” special series, beginning tomorrow. In this series, three designers will delve into the design process of Xiaomi SU7.

Simultaneously, the official also shared some images of the Xiaomi SU7 designer’s manuscript. The images unveil various futuristic and technological designs, showcasing the creative process before finalizing the SU7 design.

Xiaomi attributes the design of the SU7 to the team led by chief designer Li Tianyuan, formerly the first Chinese designer at BMW and known for his work on BMW iX. Qiu Zhen, responsible for exterior design (previously a senior exterior designer at Mercedes-Benz Germany headquarters, notable for Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX), and Shin Muto, in charge of interior design (formerly a senior interior designer at BMW, recognized for BMW Z4), were also integral to the design process.

Additionally, Xiaomi enlisted the expertise of Chris Bangor, one of the world’s top ten car designers and former BMW vice president, renowned for designing the iconic “Angel Eyes,” to serve as Xiaomi’s car design consultant.

Positioned as a C-class high-performance ecological technology sedan, the Xiaomi SU7 boasts dimensions of 4997mm in length, 1963mm in width, 1440mm in height, and a 3000mm wheelbase.

Internally, the Xiaomi SU7 features a wrap-around cockpit with a 5.35m² glass area, a classic three-spoke D-shaped steering wheel, and a physical button design.

Officials emphasize that the Xiaomi SU7 adheres to the golden ratio in terms of wheel-to-axle ratio, wheel-height ratio, and aspect ratio, resulting in a low-lying posture with a strong visual impact. The tail of the car exhibits a compact design and is adorned with a distinctive halo taillight, enhancing its overall recognition.
