ZTE was one of the first manufacturers of mobile Chinese who came to the West. At the time, their low prices and very compitetive specifications and features established the brand name that ZTE always wanted. They were the first steps towards very aggressive lower prices of their smartphones. Today, ZTE is still relatively unknown, but it has certainly lost some steam in recent years. With models like the A452 ZTE wants to regain the lost market and prove that it is still a good choice for those seeking an excellent value.
The ZTE Blade A452 is the subject of our review today . One of many 5-inch smartphones, but a lot cheaper. So, let’s see how it performs.

ZTE Blade A452
ZTE does not seem to have spent much time on making a good design. The quality is very sub-par at best and the thickness of the phone doesnot help the case either, in contrast to the beautiful white, black and gold colors. The speaker is located at the rear, while the charging port is on the bottom.
The screen, is rather surprising. A 5 inches IPS HD 1280 x 720 resolution , somewhat low-end when compared to what we currently find in the market for a similar price. ZTE had some problems in the past with the build and quality of their screens, something that they seem to have fixed in these series of phones.
If there is something striking about making ZTE Blade A452 is the great difference between their cameras. A fantastic rear lens, made by Omnivision with f / 2.2, optical image stabilization and HDR mode, it complements a front camera which is surprisingly only 2 MP, insufficient even for those who just take selfies with it but we demand at least acceptable quality “just in case”. Although something is still better than nothing, 2MP seems a little too low for a phone at this price range.
In a cheap smartphone like this, ZTE seems to have given up certain features in favor of saving others. Perhaps it is a good strategy to reduce the upfront cost thus reducing the price of the product, no doubt most of us will definetely understand that.
Battery life and Performance
If we talk about performance and battery life, are again standing in opposing positions. The 4,000 mAh battery is not only higher than the average of this range (usually located around 2500-3000 mAh), but that in view of the accompanying hardware, amazing optimization, giving us an experience more than satisfactory. We should not have any problem with it lasting upto 1-2 days.
And that is what to blame for the discrete performance is battery life. With four cores running at 1 GHz each and 1GB of RAM, we can not expect any higher performance, but in any case for those undemanding users is more than enough.
On the positive side, the GPU, Mali T720, the most common GPU used in most Chinese phones. Although on the negative side, the internal memory is only 8GB, and can give us some problems if we can not move the apps you download the external storage card.
Availability and Price of ZTE A452
If you are keeping up more or less closely with the company, you probably already know the ZTE Blade S7 , a flagship smartphone features and price that rises to nearly double it’s younger brother the ZTE A452.
If you just need the features we’ve seen in this review of the ZTE A452, you can find a really cheap price on Amazon, as well as many other popular online e-comerse sites offering Chinese smartphones.
In conclusion, is it worth purchasing the ZTE Blade A452? If you want a smartphone with modest hardware design and set at a great price, by all means yes. Battery and rear camera are its only observable advantages, not to mention the various connectivity options that gives us (WiFi 802.11 b / g / n, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS and 4G networks). But, if you are a huge multi-media person, you are better off looking at another phone, as the 8-GB provided is not enough at all for anything, especially since the Android OS takes up 4-GB and you only have 4-GB of space left for all your apps, photos, music etc.
To sum up, this is a great phone for a first-time smartphone user, not for tech savvy users, who play a lot of intensive games, take a lot of pictures, and listen to a lot of music on the go. While the battery is good, if not amazing, almost all other aspects of the phone are very sub-par and not upto the mark.
