The fact of launching the new Redmi Note 8 Pro with a MediaTek processor has probably been one of Xiaomi’s most risky strategies. And, this new smartphone whose objective is to offer an economic alternative to those looking for a device to play, has been one of the most critical, not only for fans of the brand but also for virtually all enthusiasts of this sector.
Even so, the Xiaomi sub-brand seems to be betting quite strongly on this gaming smartphone, since throughout the day the kernel source code of the Redmi Note 8 Pro has been released. Great news that solves part of the “problem” presented by the fact of having a MediaTek processor.
Do not forget that one of the big hits of this chip maker, is the bad reputation that has earned itself in delaying or directly not releasing the various drivers necessary for developers to make new Custom ROMs or customizable modules.
In addition, it should be noted that Xiaomi has not fully released the source code of the Redmi Note 8 Pr or, presenting several absences such as the touch screen firmware. To access the source code you can do it from this link that will take you directly to GitHub.
Even so, this small step represents a great chance for MediaTek, since if the source code of the Redmi Note 8 Pro is completely released it would represent a before and after in the bad reputation that the Chinese manufacturer has earned.
