Xiaomi Redmi Pro Vs Lenovo ZUK Z2 Rio Olympic Edition

Lenovo just unveils a Special Olympics edition of the ZUK Z2 Smartphone. Looks like Lenovo decided to rebrand the ZUK Z2 Pro released earlier in April this year for the Rio Olympics celebration but don’t expect a lot of changes. A closer examination of the features reveals it a lower version of the earlier ZUK Z2 Pro.

In this article we compare Xiaomi Redmi Pro with the Lenovo ZUK Z2 Rio edition not only in aesthetics but also in processing power and expandability of storage capacity.

PROCESSOR POWER Redmi Pro is powered by a deca-core 64 bit Mediatek X25 CPU with up to 2.5 GHz speed and Mali T880 GPU for maximum graphics performance. The Rio Olympic ZUK Z2, on the other hand, runs on a 2.15 quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor and Adreno 530 GPU.

While both Smartphones come packed with 3GB RAM, the ZUK Z2 Rio edition has a fixed internal memory storage of 32GB. It is worth noting the Redmi Pro which is a flagship Smartphone from Xiaomi has 32GB and 64GB internal memory options. The Redmi pro has an additional MicroSD slot that can expand the memory with up to 128GB.

SCREEN DISPLAY

Xiaomi for the very first time has used OLED, an upgrade from the typical LCD used on previous gadgets.Redmi Pro has a 5.5” OLED display offering 100% NTSC Color gamut with 60000:1 contrast ratio. 2.5D curved glass covers the display enhancing its user experience and aesthetic appeal. Rio ZUK Z2 offers a 5″ display of the screen with full HD 1920 * 1080 resolution. It has 16M color contrast and the display is covered in corning gorilla glass.

CAMERA

Both Smartphones have two cameras; at the back, ZUK Z2 Rio edition flaunts a 13-megapixel, f/2.2 aperture camera LED flash and an 8-megapixel front-facing selfie camera. Redmi Pro on it’s part has the dual camera setup at the back. The top lens is the 13-megapixel camera with a Sony IMX 258 sensor. Below the first camera is a 5-megapixel camera with a Samsung sensor. A dual-toned LED flash is located between the two camera sensors to allow for brighter photos in the dark.

CONNECTIVITY

On the connectivity front, both gadgets offer LTE with support for VoLTE, Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, Hotspot, Glonass and USB Type C.

BATTER POWER

Redmi pro is internally powered by a 4050mAh giving it longer excellent battery life, while 3500mAh battery powers the ZUK Z2 Rio edition.

Other features

Both Smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. They also boast of a fingerprint scanner on the home buttons which both manufacturers’ claims can unlock the devices in less than 0.1seconds. Since Samsung is the official sponsor of the Olympics, ZUK Z2 Rio edition doesn’t shout OLYMPICS but has dozen Rio Olympic themes pre-installed. It’s clear from the above features both Smartphones offers the best value if you are looking to invest in a stylish mid-tier Smartphone with a low budget. While Redmi Pro has been officially launched to the market and going with a starting retail price of US $225 for the 32GB, ZUK Z2 Rio edition is only available for pre-order currently and it will officially come to the market the 2nd of August at the retail price of US $225 after discount.
