Xiaomi has released their update to the budget Redmi 1s, the Xiaomi Redmi 2. The successor retains the old affordable price tag and brings a 64-bit chipset and LTE connectivity to the table. Let’s take a look at the comparison chart :

Taking a quick look at the specifications, we can see that the major differences between the Redmi 2 and Redmi 1s is mainly with the change in processor and the the cut in dimensions. The phone took a fat cutting therapy and now it’s more fit and sexy. Redmi 2 is smaller and lighter in every way than Redmi 1s, which was a very needed improvement.
Also the processor have now been upgraded to 64 bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410, which doesn’t bring much improvement in performance it is a small upgrade to the aging Snapdragon 400. And other improvements being : a bigger battery with fast charging, and an upgraded 2 MP front camera. And I forgot, the 4G LTE connectivity.
This is a small upgrade to the budget king Xiaomi Redmi 1s, but a much needed one. But I think this will not be enough for people to change their minds and buy this new phone selling old Redmi. But they have not updated the price, the new phone is selling for the same 699 yuan, which is the same price of Redmi 1s.
