We have continued to study lamps and especially coming from the Xiaomi. Today for the review we have chosen the latest version of Xiaomi PHILIPS Zhirui Smart Bedside Lamp, which is an excellent product from Xiaomi. After taking over the smartphone market, Xiaomi is emerging as a company with products for all parts of life. To get into the lighting, Xiaomi has collaborated with Philips and design a Smart Philips lamp. We have tested Lamps functionality in all the way including the test in the lighting laboratory to come out with a great buying guide for our readers so they can judge better.
Xiaomi has collaboration with a lot of small developers and firms producing various smart devices, that can be controlled by WIFI. By the time, there are now more than hundreds of devices under the belt of Xiomi, and their number is repeatedly growing. Around two years ago, Xioami has started its operation with Philips in the area of lighting. From this time, there are more than ten lamps unveiled in the market. All the lamps are from the Philips brand and can be controlled via WIFI using MI Home application.
The Smart bedside lamp, Xiaomi Mijia Yeelight Smart Bedside Lamp went on sale in first 2015, and now a new version has been released under the Philips brand.

The Xiaomi PHILIPS Zhirui Smart Bedside Lamp comes within a regular packaging of a cardboard box. The box is not great made, and the package gets little bend during the transport.
Package Includes – a lamp, power supply with a Chinese plug, instruction manual in Chinese.
The lamp comes with a covering of a thin film. It protects it from scratches and keeps the lamp body clean from any touches.
The lamp gets power from a 5V 2A power supply unit. Which comes equipp with a 148 cm long cable with a USB Type-C connector. The type-c connector is really great and makes charging of lamp really fast.
The Xiaomi PHILIPS Zhirui follow the ergonomic design. The wire is connected to the socket located at the very bottom of the lamp base.
On the other side of the device base, the light sensor has its place. It adjusts the brightness of the device according to the surrounding light.
The lamp comes from the Chinese market, so it is not unexpected that the instruction remains only in Chinese. However, this problem can be easily solved by installing Google translator on your smartphone. It will perfectly translate text from Chinese into English, including symbols.
The Xiaomi PHILIPS Zhirui comes with premium quality thick transparent poly-carbonate, with a cover of a matte layer on the inside. This also gives an interesting effect – a transparent layer is visible on the edges of the ceiling. It gives a great feeling to the lamp.
The lamp looks moderately simple. It can light as white/color light an can change color with different brightness and temperature setting.
The Xiaomi PHILIPS Zhirui comes with features like light alarm mode. This allows you to set auto turning on the light for specified minutes at a specified time. This device also comes with special effect mode which allows smooth color change. The automatic nightlight mode turns on at the light in the absence of external lighting.
The lamp coming from Xiaomi can be easily controlled by MI Home application. Moreover, it can also work autonomously, and the manual control uses the turn of the ceiling light by pressing a single button on top.
You can manually turn on or off the phone by pressing the button on top. The top of Xiaomi PHILIPS Zhirui come with the rotation system, rotating the top can change the brightness and color temperature (the brighter, the whiter) together. Holding the top button for three seconds starts the nightlight mode of the device- the minimum brightness and the lowest color temperature comes to be 1700K.
Rotating the ceiling clockwise will initiate the exit mode of the lamp. If you press the button and start rotating the ceiling, it will make lamp color change smoothly. The brightness of the selected color can be switch by double-clicking the button and rotating the ceiling. You can easily switch between white light and colored light by double-clicking the switch.
Setting The Xiaomi Philips Zhirui
The Xiaomi lamp can be easily control by using MI Home application. The application is available over Google Playstore, or you can download it from the Xiaomi App store. If you have a Xiaomi device its all well and good, However, if you are using any other smartphone, you have to create a Xiaomi account first. Its really important to select your location as “Mainland China” region in the application. Otherwise, the lamp will have a problem while controlling. As it is intended only for the Chinese market.
Connecting your smart lamp to your phone is quite simple. The lamp comes with the feature to create a temporary WIFI network with a name similar to Philips-light-moonlight. First, you need to connect with the network. After connecting with the network, a device will immediately appear on your application screen. You have to click lamp that will appear on the screen to connect with it.
The smartphone and the lamp switch to a regular WIFI network, the application downloads and installs the plug-in for the lamp, after which you can give the lamp a title and designate its location in residence.
From the application, you can turn the lamp on and off, change the color, brightness, color temperature of white light. You can also see the status of the lamp turned on or off manually.
There are different alarm modes and several outlines for a steady color change.
There is a nightlight auto-on mode from 11 PM to 6 AM in the morning, if the room is dark.
When the lamp gets disconnect from the mains and gets turns on again, it does not light up.
My screenshots are in Chinese, but now the plugin has been updated, and the interface has become English.
Parameters of the lamp.
Using a two-meter integrating sphere and an Instrument Systems CAS 140 CT spectrometer we measure the Xiaomi PHILIPS Zhirui color temperature, color rendering index and illumination. Using a Uprtek MK350D compact spectrometer we measure pulsation level and power consumption was measured with a Robinson PM-2 instrument. Before starting the test we stabilize the parameters of the lamp by letting it work for half an hour.
The maximum temperature of 3070K and illumination of 270 lm was recorded at a color. We record three measurements – in the mode of the coldest light, in the mode close to 4000K and close to 3000K.
From judging the spectrum, white LEDs with a color temperature of about 6000K get to use with the lamp. Warmer colors are achieve by mixing the light of white and red LEDs.
The ripple coefficient in all modes did not exceed 0.3%. The CRI (Ra), color rendering index, ranged from 79.2 to 88.2.
The maximum power consumption – 8.6 W is achieved at a color temperature of about 3000K.
When only white LEDs (6100K) are on, the lamp consumes 7.12 watts.
In color, mode consumption does not exceed 5.6 watts.
When the lamp is off, it consumes 0.97 watts.
The power and luminous flux of the lamp are slightly lower than those stated, but not critical. The main thing is that there is no ripple, and the color rendering index is almost always above 80.
During operation, the lamp almost does not heat up. The maximum case temperature is 33 ° C.
The maximum temperature of the power supply is 36 ° C.
The Xiaomi Philips Zhirui Smart Bedside Lamp is a great device to have by your side if you are looking for a lamp. It comes with great feature compare with the traditional lamps. Not only this, coming from Xiaomi and Philips, the quality is too great. Overall a great and trendy device to have at your home.
