Many manufacturers decide to launch the custom versions of their flagships to boost sales. Recently, we have seen a few of them. They include the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition, VIVO X20 Honor of Kings, and some OPPO handsets including the OPPO R9 Barcelona Edition, OPPO R11 TFBOYS Limited Edition, and OPPO R11 Honor of Kings Edition. As you see, each of them is made for a specific group of customers. So why Xiaomi can’t come in with anything like that? A couple of days ago, the manufacturer announced the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S Special Art Edition. Today, it’s gone on sale at a price tag of 4299 yuan ($677). We have already got our hands on it.
Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S Special Art Edition Unboxing
The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S Special Art Edition has been designed in collaboration with The British Museum. Thus it’s not made for gamers or movie fans. It’s difficult to say what a goal it is chasing, but the fact is this handset looks quite attractive. While many of you wondering what a group of customers it is aiming at, we have to say the Xiaomi products have been in the spotlight of various museums for a while. Myriads of Xiaomi products win design awards every year. The Mi MIX line models are no exception. Moreover, they are record-holders. The original Mi MIX has already managed to be included in art collections of The International Design Museum (Munich), the Design Museum in Finland, and the Pompidou Centre. This doesn’t mean the Special Art Edition will become a museum specimen, but it’s a great offer for those who want to own a customized variant of the current Mi flagship.
Externally and internally the phone comes with the same features as the regular model. But the main difference is the golden ring on the rear camera and the words “British Museum” printed on the bottom of the back. Inside the box, we can also find a protective shell jointly designed by Xiaomi and The British Museum, as well as a special packaging protection box. As the manufacturer says, the design of the phone was inspired by the Victorian majolica pottery, and they hope the exploration of technology and art would never stop.
At last, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S Special Art Edition has gone on sale today at a price tag of 4299 yuan, but it took less than a minute to completely sell it out.
