Just recently, Xiaomi issued a statement and disclosed some sales data concerning the Mi Band series products. It turns out there are over 50 million units sold worldwide. To celebrate this, the company will launch the Xiaomi Mi Band 3 NFC limited edition along with the original NFC variant on September 19. Only 666 units of this limited edition have been made. It’s been also said this model won’t be sold. Instead, you can get it free of charge by participating in official events.
The Xiaomi Mi Band 3 NFC Limited Edition (Commemorative Edition) has three major characteristics:
- It comes with a maple leaf red wristband, which won’t be produced anymore.
- It comes with a laser engraving pattern with a global limited code.
- The band has an exclusive custom packaging box.
Besides the color difference, the rest of the features are identical to the original NFC variant. Thus, this band sports a 0.78-inch OLED display with a resolution of 128×80 and a pixel density of up to 193 PPI. It can display up to 24 high-resolution Chinese characters at a time.
The new Xiaomi Mi Band 3 has 5 ATM waterproof rating. Thus it can be worn when swimming and surfing with no worries, as it can be immersed in the water up to 50 meters.
We are dealing with a fitness tracker, so it’s logical why the Xiaomi Mi Band 3 still displays the common information such as the current time, steps, heart rate, calories, and more. You can also record the number of daily exercise steps and night sleep time, to understand yourself better. All these features don’t affect the battery life. On a single charge, it will last for 20 days. In addition, the Xiaomi Mi Band 3 has more reminders, including mobile app notifications and event reminders. There is an event reminder stored inside the bracelet itself. So it can be used without the phone.
However, the Xiaomi Mi Band 3 NFC commemorative edition is fully consistent with the standard NFC version. The first batch supports public travel services in 164 cities across Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, etc.
