When Qualcomm was unveiling the Snapdragon 845 a few months back, Xiaomi CEO, Lei Jun was there and announced the Xiaomi Mi 7 will sport the latest chip of Qualcomm. This wasn’t surprising, but it caused a lot of conversations. The first question we have been interested in concerned the launch date. Today, Xiaomi mobile phone product marketing director, Zang Chih-yuan posted on his social media page that Xiaomi will attend MWC 2018 in Barcelona, Spain in late February, at Hall 6. Nothing else was said, but we are sure Xiaomi will uncover the Mi 7 at the conference at the same time with the Samsung Galaxy S9.
There are few hints the Xiaomi Mi 7 will sport the Snapdragon 845 chip. One of them, Qualcomm invited Lei Jun to the Summit. This simply means Qualcomm and Xiaomi have deepened their cooperation, and the Chinese smartphone maker is an equal-rights partner not yielding top brands like Samsung.
Generally, Xiaomi has revised many aspects of its activity and strategy. As the company has announced, they are going to become Top 500 Enterprise Company in 2018. To reach this goal they should continue focusing more on innovation and quality. But Lei Jun has also announced Xiaomi will bring AI to its products. Honestly, Xiaomi has always been adding some AI elements to every product it launched. So it turns out the Chinese tech giant just will continue doing what it does the best.
As for the Xiaomi Mi 7 itself, the manufacturer will come with a common practice of launching regular and big screen variants. The Xiaomi Mi 7 and Mi 7 Plus are said to continue using double-glass + metal frame design. Plus, they will support wireless charging. The expected launch date is spring, which corresponds the late-February announcement.
