Xiaomi Mi 7 canceled! The Xiaomi Mi 8 would be released this year

As you read it, the Xiaomi Mi 7 has been canceled. Instead, everything points that the famous manufacturer will release the Xiaomi Mi 8 as a celebration of the company’s eighth anniversary. In a movement very similar to that seen with Windows 10 (Microsoft decided to discard the 9 to imply that it was something entirely new and not a continuation) or with the iPhone X, Xiaomi would skip the logical numbering, with the possible indication that, in addition to be as a reason for its anniversary, this Smartphone will completely revolutionizes the world. A few hours ago, a Weibo’s user (a popular Chinese social network) published an image that indicates that the name change to Xiaomi Mi 8. The reactions were immediate in the social network, where they began to speculate if this was referring to a new totally different device to the Xiaomi Mi 7 or if instead, it would be a double purchase strategy.

Until now, recent leaks indicate the next device in the Mi series would opt for a full-screen design with the use of a notch at the top, which would have an infrared camera, making it compatible with 3D facial recognition technology. The screen would be an OLED type and would use the Always-On display technology.

Like most current devices, it could come in two versions, a standard that would have a screen of 5.6 inches and a “Plus” version, which would take the bet further, until 6.01 inches.

As for power, it will not stay behind thanks to the Snapdragon 845 processor, 6GB of RAM and a 64/128GB ROM (the amounts of memory are referring to the standard version). On the back, it would have two 16MP sensors that would make the camera a luxury, which will get better results thanks to MIUI 9, Xiaomi’s custom layer based on Android 8. The battery could be of 3350mAh, and it would have Qi wireless charging support, a technology that Xiaomi has already implemented with the recent Xiaomi Mi MIX 2.

In the end, everything points to that we will have to wait until May 23, the possible date where Xiaomi would hold a conference for its presentation.
