XIaomi Mi 6 VS Huawei Honor 9: Speed Test

When the Xiaomi Mi 6 was out all smartphone makers crossed fingers hoping this handset won’t be as good as talked. ‘Unfortuantely’, the Mi 6 is the most powerful Xiaomi smartphone ever launched. And if we even can say it is the best. I understand that it yields the Samsung Galaxy S8 and iPhone 7 in terms of popularity. But we are not talking about a brand but a performance. Recently, Huawei launched its next-gen flagship dubbed as the Huawei Honor 9. Many have been thinking this amazing handset is capable of beating the Mi 6. So some geeks have decided to compare these smartphones in order to find out whether Huawei’s Kirin 960 is capable of fighting against Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835.

Before we start testing let’s recall their key features. The Xiaomi Mi 6 comes with a 5.15-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 835 chip, 6GB of RAM, 64/128GB of internal memory, 3350mAh battery. As for the Huawei Honor 9, this model sports a 5.15-inch 1080p screen, Kirin 960 chip, 6GB of RAM, 64/128GB of built-in memory, and 3200mAh battery. Seems, these handsets are packed with identical hardware. But actually, they aren’t. Say, the Xiaomi Mi 6 features a UFS2.1 memory storage, while the Huawei Honor 9 comes with an eMMC5.1. Thus Xiaomi’s flagship should be faster than its competitor.

Let’s test it. The first test that has been held refers to installing/opening the applications. For the same apps set, Xiaomi Mi 6 showed 02:25.3, while the Huawei Honor 9 did the same for 02:26.26. The difference is not that much, but we have to write down the Xiaomi Mi 6 is the winner in the first round.

The second test was held to find out which smartphone provides faster write/read function. Thanks to UFS2.1 the Xiaomi Mi 6 wins the race. It provides w/r speed of 718/207MB/s, while the Huawei Honor 9 does the same in 286/94MB/s. The difference is obvious.

As for the Huawei Honor 9, its results are less attractive – 1870 at single-core, and 6649 at multi-core. Honestly, no handset can compete with the Xiaomi Mi 6 at multi-core benchmark test.
