Today I received my Xiaomi Mi 5x and decided to do unboxing and first impressions of Xiaomi’s latest phone. Xiaomi MI 5x full specs include a 5.5-inch FHD 2.5D IPS Display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 625, 4GB RAM, 64GB Storage, Dual-Cameras with portrait mode, a 3080mAh battery and is running Android 7.1.2 with MIUI 8.5 on top.
Xiaomi Mi 5x Unboxing – Same old Xiaomi
Starting with Xiaomi Mi 5x unboxing we reveal Xiaomi keep their boxing style, but added more features to it. With Mi 5x being a mid-range device in terms of specs and price the packaging also reflects it. On the back, you now have the specs illustrated as well as written.
Inside we find the standard Xiaomi package – a phone, charger, cable and sim-tray pin. The charger does support quick charge and the cable is USB-C.
I would really love if Xiaomi take a cue from smaller smartphone manufacturers and start putting at least a silicon back case. Some headphones would also be nice since the Mi 5x is not a very cheap device.
Xiaomi Mi 5x First Impressions – Always Improving
All gripes I had with the packaging faded after I put this wonderful device in my hands. The pleasure of holding the Mi 5x is another testimony of the great Xiaomi engineering.
The body is made of metal with a slick matte black paint. Xiaomi Mi 5x has some weight to it and feels very solid and durable. Xiaomi Mi 5x build quality is very close to what OnePlus 5 and iPhone 7 offer, which is amazing at this price. No wonder the back is an almost exact copy of OnePlus 5, with the only exception being the fingerprint scanner on the back than on the front. The capacitive keys for navigation are backlit.
Unlike iPhone 7, Mi 5x retains the 3.5mm headphone jack and it’s located on the bottom left.On the top you have the ever-present IR blaster for controlling your electrical appliances.
Xiaomi Mi 5x Display is high quality. Great viewing angles, accurate and lively colours and deep blacks. It is by far one of the best Xiaomi devices when it comes to user experience. Very premium and streamlined.
Here are a few shots taken with Mi 5X
With the Mi 5x, Xiaomi continues to move in the right direction in my books. Although not offering Snapdragon 660 as most of you were hoping the user experience, display and general feel of the device are flagship worthy with a mid-range price.
