At the beginning of 2018, Xiaomi has added to several of its Smartphones the function of facial unlocking. The Redmi Note 5 Pro, Xiaomi Mi 6 and Mi MIX 2 have already received this feature. However, through the latest version of MIUI 9 8.4.25, Xiaomi has decided to give the facial identification function to the Xiaomi Mi 5 flagship that came on the market two years ago.
If you want to activate this unlock method in the Mi 5, users must install the latest update (MIUI 9 8.4.25 beta) and then go to the configuration menu. In Lock screen, then Password, you must select the Fingerprint option. Then proceed to add face data and finally perform the required steps and save the face scanned information.
To prevent the battery from draining faster, the predefined waiting time for the facial unlock feature is about 5 seconds. Meaning that if the face is not scanned within 5 seconds, the facial recognition function will not be available. Users will have to activate the screen to access again. The company decided to include this feature that will become a trend in the upcoming Smartphones of 2018. Although it may give some bugs and is not as optimal as it is the fingerprint detector, offers the option to unlock the terminal only with the look. However, Xiaomi is well-known for the good support and assistance.
