Xiaomi and Lenovo could be working on a 5G smartphone with Qualcomm chipset

Yesterday, the Chinese manufacturer of smart phones Xiaomi shared a publication on the microblogging platform, Weibo, which comes from the profile made by Qualcomm and which talks about its next generation mobile chipset, adding the text “expectation”. Interestingly, another Chinese manufacturer, Lenovo, responded with “more than I expected”.

Well, this interaction has sparked a lot of rumors, which are based on the fact that these two smartphone manufacturers are working together on a new device that will work with Qualcomm’s next next-generation mobile chipset. In addition, it is expected that the following phones launched by both companies will be compatible with 5G, given that Qualcomm already revealed that the next processor can be paired with the Qualcomm Opteron X50 5G modem.

We could see a new Qualcomm processor soon

Qualcomm, who dominates the mobile chip market, is currently working on a next generation flagship processor. The company has confirmed that this next-generation chipset will be manufactured with a 7nm design process. Also, according to some reports, TSMC, based in Taiwan, will begin mass production of Qualcomm’s 7nm chipset in the fourth quarter of this year.

Recent reports suggest that Qualcomm could change the naming scheme of its processors with the next chipset. The Snapdragon 855 (SDM855) codenamed “Hena” is now known as SM8150, and will measure 12.4 x 12.4 mm.

Another report added that it is likely that the SM1850 does not have a built-in 5G modem. Instead, Qualcomm will include a Snapdragon X24 model with support for Cat. 20 LTE. This contradicted previous reports that the SDM855, also known as SM8150, will come with the SDX50 modem, and will be known as the Snapdragon 855 Fusion platform.

The only reasonable explanation with respect to this is that there will be two versions of the SDM855, one without a 5G modem and another with the 5G modem.

The next phones from Xiaomi and Lenovo could have this 5G chipset

A couple of days ago, it was reported that some manufacturers have received samples of this upcoming 7nm chipset for testing and building new phones equipped with this new chipset. While we do not know when this large manufacturer plans to officially announce its next-generation mobile chipset, it is expected to be released in December, and that phones with this chipset will be released early next year.

Meanwhile, the chipsets company based in the United States plans to announce something on September 10; Qualcomm has sent out invitations for a launch event held this day, where the company could launch a new processor for Smartwatches.
