Xiaomi adds eSIM on their Smartphones thanks to a new update

Xiaomi continues to improve the service offered to all users of their mobile devices, now, with the arrival of the new version of its MIUI 10 ROM 8.9.20 operating system has appeared an incredible feature that has impressed many, it is an eSIM. Basically, it consists of a new SOS function, which is activated when the user presses 3 times the off button and will automatically call a contact in case of emergency. At the moment this function is available in the Xiaomi Mi Note 3 and the Xiaomi Mi Max 3.

This new version also has a national “dollar traffic” cardless mode, which uses the virtual eSIM technology. To explain it better, when the traffic service is enabled, a virtual number will automatically be sent to the mobile device. This makes a big difference for example with a USIM card. Access is through the software. Another thing is that it also fixes several errors present in the Xiaomi Mi 6 since now it has a much faster system with better stability.

MIUI 10 Stable Version

It should be noted that the availability of MIUI with the eSIM at the moment is only in China, and also, it must be said that it does not work if the Smartphone has two SIM cards equipped. That is, it only works when there is a single SIM card, and in this way, the eSIM can be added. It is not yet known when this feature could reach international level, so for now, we just have to wait.

What is an eSIM?

The eSIM is also known as virtual SIM and consists of the evolution of an ordinary SIM card since it is integrated within the same devices (Smartphones, Smartwatches, among others). In this way, you no longer need a physical SIM card as we know them at the moment.

Advantages of the eSIM

The eSIMs add new functions to existing devices, make connections to new products much easier and improve the digital communication experience. The only thing that must be done is to associate the contracted lines of any operator to the Smartphone, in this way it is avoided to be exchanging SIM cards all the time, in addition, you can also activate and deactivate the other devices associated with the main line. Another great advantage is that it helps to optimize the design of future mobile devices since the space occupied by the SIM card slot can be used for other functions and components that provide new features or improve existing ones.
