VOYO Q101 Review: Full HD Screen and Dual-SIM Supporting LTE

VOYO mainly focuses on designing laptops and miniPCs. But like other manufacturers from the same weight category this company wants to enter other markets as well. I am not talking about niches differing from the aforementioned ones much. Say, what prevents from launching tablets? Seems nothing. What’s amazing, the manufacturer thinks so as well. Today we are going to review the VOYO Q101 tablet. Honestly, I can’t say whether this is the first regular tablet of this manufacturer or not, but the Q101 is going to make real competition to a list of top brands offering tablets at 10.1 inches.

VOYO Q101 Specs List

  • OS: Android 6.0
  • CPU: MediaTek MT6753
  • RAM: 2GB
  • Storage: 32GB
  • Display: 10.1 inch IPS (1,920 × 1,200)
  • Network: 802.11 b / g / n, Bluetooth 4.0
  • LTE: B 1 / B 3 / B 7
  • SIM: standard SIM × 2
  • Camera: In 2MP / out 5MP
  • Interfaces: microUSB 2.0, microSD, audio
  • Battery: 5,000mAh
  • Dimensions / weight: 242 × 172 × 9 mm / 450 g

The features sound quite acceptable if taking into account we are dealing with a low-price tablet. There are a couple of selling points such as a Full HD screen and 4G support. However, some specs still cause many questions. Say, the MT6753 cheap is not designed for tablets especially. It’s made for smartphones. But we are going to test it and find out whether the MediaTek MT6753 processor can show good results on larger-screen devices as well.

Other than that, the VOYO Q101 comes with an Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. This version of Google’s operating system sounds outdated. But let’s not forget this is a single-OS tablet with light features.

VOYO Q101 Appearance

The box doesn’t come with surprises – AC adapter, microUSB cable, warranty card, manual, and the tablet itself.

The front panel looks like a regular Android tablet – the bezels are wide; the standard Android buttons are on screen; and there is a camera above the screen.

Seems the back panel is made of metal, but it’s plastic. Thanks to coloring and quality you won’t feel you are dealing with a cheap tablet with a cheap housing. There are also two stereo speakers, but the sound quality is higher than expected.

The top side carries a USB Type-C port. Though this is a cheap model, it’s pretty nice to see such an interface on it.

A noise cancellation microphone is on the bottom side.

The left side is blank.

A LED light, volume rocker, power button, and 3.5mm audio jack are on the right side.

Thus nothing to complain on as well as nothing to praise for. Common as expected.

VOYO Q101 Performance

If compared with the Xiaomi Mi Pad 3, we had a feeling of using an Apple tablet. I mean MIUI is one of the best software in the market, and Apple users can switch to it easily without having any trouble. As for the VOYO Q101, this device doesn’t come with such a popular software, but it is still capable of providing smooth performance. On the other hand, this is an Android tablet that means Android features and look is noticeable. So we can state the Q101 runs on a full-blooded Android.

Everything concerning the software is familiar to us. The only thing I want you to look at is the ability of changing the destination when saving a file. Thus you can choose where to save – microSD card or built-in storage.

This is one of those cases when I have to talk about the camera. I mean usually I don’t take them seriously, because there is nothing to talk about. The VOYO Q101 comes with a 5MP camera, which is also paired with a flash light. This means you can shoot medium quality photos that can be shared via social media. Obviously, this camera can’t compete with the latest creations of manufacturers, but the shooting performance is quite acceptable for a tablet at such a price tag.

The VOYO Q101 sports a MediaTek MT6753. As I said at the beginning of this review, this chip has been designed for devices with a smaller screen size. So it should face some issues when running heavy apps or games. Unfortunately, our expectations were true. We tested it by playing a couple of 3D games such as Need for Speed: No Limits and Mortal Combat X Mobile. Both games were running with interruptions. And we were able to play these games only when dropped the quality and frame rates.

However, the Q101 has had no problems when playing 2S games such as Angry Birds.

At the end, we tested the MT6753 chip on this handset via AnTuTu, and it scored 35.636 points.

  • 10.1-inch Full HD screen
  • 5MP camera on back with a flash light
  • 4G LTE support
  • Cheap Price
  • Cons
  • Processor
  • Memory Combination

The Bottom Line

When using / testing the VOYO Q101 we didn’t have any real problem with. This means $99.99 price tag is quite justified. So if you are looking for a tablet for daily use and you are not ready to pay a fortune like the case with the Apple iPad, the Q101 can be a great alternate. You only have to know this device is not designed for heavy tasks such as running 3D games or heavy apps. The rest is acceptable. This statement refers to the appearance and the performance as well.

Argam Artashyan

Back in 2010, he was dismissed from his position as a lecturer at the university. This made him get another job at his friend’s digital marketing company as a blog writer. After a few years, when he was thinking the article writing is his mission, Google pushed the Panda update and affected the company and websites he was working at. (Un)fortunately and surprisingly, he got an offer to head a large knitting factory. In 2016, he got his Ph.D. and resumed teaching at the University … and writing tech-related articles following his passion.

  1. Many Voyo q101 have 32gb of memory but only 3gb are available to instal apps. Yours have the same “problem”?

  2. All fake!
Gearbest offers this Voyo Q101 4G as an ‘Android 6.0’ tablet with a ‘5000mAh’ battery.
A closer look reveals the truth:
    – the Voyo Q101 4G runs on the outdated Android 5.1 (aka ‘Lollipop_MR1, API22)
    – the built-in battery is just 4000mAh
This explains why the tablet will not install any Android 6 apps, only running for a few hours with one single charge.
On top the charger is of lousy quality, mine died within 2 days.

BUYER BEWARE! Stay away from Gearbest and their deceiving offers with false specifications. They continue to sell it as ‘Android 6.0 with 5000mAh’ battery, althrough I (and others) have delivered evidence about the true specs of this cheap thing.
