Currently, there are only two genuine full-screen smartphones. As you know, one of them comes our way from VIVO, while the second one comes from OPPO. Both models use lifting structures that carry the front camera sensor. But the approaches differ a lot. This simply means the introduction of mechanical structures on smartphones is not a big problem. The key is to see which problems you can’t solve at the current stage by other means. It’s reported Samsung and Apple will release true full-screen smartphones in the second half of this year, and most likely, they won’t be using any structures. But before it happens, the OPPO Find X and the VIVO NEX are the only models with such characteristics.
In fact, if there is no circumvention of the front lens, no one will choose a lifting mechanical structure. This is related to the fact it brings too many shortcomings – it destroys the integrity of the fuselage, dust and water resistance, squeezes the internal PCB space, increases the cost of the supply chain, and increases the difficulty of the manufacturing process. But in order to come in with a stylish and trendy design, all these sacrifices are worth it. The Vivo NEX uses a lift-type front camera and a fingerprint on the screen. At the same time, the OPPO Find X uses a dual-track predatory structure and a fully hidden 3D camera.
The bangs were eliminated. It’s been thought that the mechanical structure will affect the internal space, but the VIVO NEX and OPPO Find X come with acceptable battery capacity. Plus, they are supporting fast charging options. The same Snapdragon 845 found on both models has the same fast charging power. But in terms of human-computer interaction, it has gone to completely different ways.
For the design of the two smartphones, the OPPO Find X uses a special 3D laminated streamer process. The color and the 3D curved body are skillfully combined. The color is static and jewel-like in a different light. The VIVO NEX features a 3D glass design with a back gradient.
So we can state in the full-screen competition in the first half of 2018, the VIVO NEX and OPPO Find X had already won the race. And even the original MIX series that opened the real full-screen trend was eclipsed.
