Current smartphones are not cheap. Especially, if you want to acquire something worthy, you should be ready to pay off. A few months back, an interesting model dubbed as the Ulefone Armor 6 caught our eyes when was presented at Global Sources Electronic Expo in Hong Kong. We were excited seeing the promo text ‘The world’s first rugged smartphone supporting 5G’. Now, we this amazing handset is available for purchase. But many users complain it is too expensive at $329.99. Let’s take a closer look at its key features and understand whether it is overpriced or not.
That’s not a secret the world is preparing to switch to 5G technology. So the phone makers have begun to introduce their 5G compatible smartphones everywhere. But none of them came in with a rugged smartphone made for those who have an active lifestyle or just need a solid device. Only Ulefone has paid attention to these customers. And at this moment, the Ulefone Armor 6 is considered to be the world’s only rugged 5G smartphone.
The Ulefone Armor 6 is so tough, that you can not only safely drop it but kick it and throw it. Apart from the IP68 certification, it also comes with an IP69K certification which means it can withstand high-pressure and high-temperature spray downs. Usually, when we talk about the durability of a smartphone, we mean the water resistance. But agree it’s not the only thing we want our handsets to have. That’s why Armor 6 is also compliant with the MIL-STD-810 standard. The latter is used to evaluate equipment for use in the field. In one word, for a device to be certified for this standard, it must withstand very harsh environmental conditions, including high and low temperatures, sand and dust exposure, shock and vibration and even salt fog.
However, withstanding the gimmicks of short-tempered owners is not the biggest selling point of this device. Besides the durability, there are many other features we buy a smartphone for. And first, it’s the functionality it provides. As for the Ulefone Armor 6, it has nothing to shy for. This handset is packed with a MediaTek Helio P60 12nm AI-powered chip, which is coupled with a 6GB of RAM and 128GB of native storage. Inside, it also carries an enormous 5000mAh battery. The latter supports 18W fast charging. Many of you are sure that a smartphone with such protection can’t have wireless charging. You are wrong. The Armor 6 supports it as well.
Another interesting feature is the UV detector that can measure how strong rays are and warn you when you have to take measures to protect yourself. But there are other trendy features as well, including dual-SIM support, fingerprint sensor, and face unlock, accurate GPS due to Glonass and Beidou navigation systems, and NFC supporting for Google Pay, etc.
The 6.2-inch display has an FHD+ resolution of 2246×1080 pixels and a notch. There’s a dual rear camera setup coming with a 21MP RGB primary sensor and a 13MP monochrome secondary sensor. On the front side, there’s a 13MP shooter. The phone’s camera comes with Arcsoft algorithm and AI-based features. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo.
