The release of the new Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 has become a catalyst for other brands. Following Xiaomi, new products were announced by Huawei and Teclast. By the way, they did not show the updated mid-segment tablet computers for a long time. This is exactly what the Teclast M89 has become – quite a budget enough to recommend even to a schoolboy, but powerful, and, no less important, with a quality screen thanks to which the novelty can compete even with Apple devices. Many have been thinking the tablet market is dying. But recently we saw a few outstanding models that make us hope for better. Our protagonist is among them. At this moment, it is priced at $123.99. So it can be considered as the cheaper alternative to the Mi Pad 4.
We have been familiar with this brand for a while- it’s a budget but respectable brand, always coming with worthy models. Like other manufacturers from the niche, it didn’t put many efforts into creating something new. Instead, it is using the beloved appearance of the iPad and/or the Mi Pad. Nevertheless, it is hardly possible to find a more convenient solution: a flat and slim body made of metal, rounded edges, and traditional arrangement of controls. The front side, which carries a 7.9-inch screen is completely covered with a Gorilla Glass. One of the most outstanding features of the Teclast M89 is the screen resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. In this sense, it outruns the newly announced Mi Pad 4. At last, the USB Type-C, mini HDMI ports, a 3.5mm audio jack, and two speakers are placed on the bottom. The back is made of anodizing metal material. So we can write down this tablet doesn’t differ from top-notch models available on the market.
However, the hardware part is a bit disappointing but acceptable when recalling its price range. Under the hood, it carries a MediaTek MT8176 hexa-core processor clocked at 2.1GHz. This is enough for all daily tasks set in front of budget tablets. Moreover, it integrates PowerVR GX6250 graphics. Of course, it’s not a Snapdragon chip. But the Teclast M89 bypasses the previous generation Mi Pad 3. There is also a 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and a 4840mAh battery. The latter can run for up to 7 hours on a single charge. It runs on Android 7.0.
