Smartisan R1 Unboxing: A Revolutionary Phone With 1TB Storage

Yesterday, Hammer Technology launched a revolutionary smartphone at the conference held in the Bird’s Nest. It’s dubbed the Smartisan R1, but as Hamming Technology CEO Luo Yonghao revealed, in the future, all their phones will carry the name of Nut regardless of the category of the phone. So this phone is also named the Smartisan Nut R1. There are many amazing features making this handset a true top-notch model. But its selling point should be the 1TB UFS2.1 storage option. This, we are dealing with the world’s first 1TB storage phone powered by a Snapdragon 845.

Anyway, the Smartisan R1 sports a 6.17-inch full-screen with a resolution of 2242×1080 pixels, an aspect ratio of 18.7:9, and a contrast ratio of 1500:1. It belongs to the phones group with a notch on the upper side of the screen. But unlike the iPhone X and other handsets like it, this one has a design identical to the Sharp Aquos series.

The fuselage of the Smartisan R1 uses a 3D curved glass, while the middle frame is made of aerospace-grade 7 aluminum. The company has returned to its old design, which combines the logo and the fingerprint scanner. It has dimensions of 153.3 × 74.5 × 7.9mm and a weight of 170 grams. There are two color options – carbon black with a red line on the middle and pure white. We are offering you to take a look the former one, but the latter is promoted as ‘the best white phone in the world.’

In terms of hardware, the Smartisan R1 doesn’t yield any high-end smartphone. As you can guess, under the hood it carries a Snapdragon 845 chip, which is paired with various memory options including 6/8GB LPDDR4X RAM and a 3600mAh battery. Thanks to them, the phone scores 275,866, which is an absolute record. As we said, the R1 is the world’s first smartphone sporting 1TB of native storage and a Snapdragon 845 SoC.

The phone also comes with strong photography capabilities. It is packed with a 12MP Sony IMX363 sensor accompanied by a 20MP sensor. This camera modules comes with an aperture of f/1.8 and supports dual PD full-pixel dual-core focusing, OIS, and EIS. On the opposite side, the Smartisan R1 carries a 24MP shooter, which is great in low-light shooting. Of course, the camera supports AI real-time beauty features.

Finally, the Smartisan R1 has a few variants priced accordingly. The 6+64GB variant is available at 3499 yuan ($548); 6+128GB model costs 3999 yuan ($627); the 8+128GB variant is priced at 4499 yuan ($705); and the 8GB+1TB model can be acquired for 8848 yuan ($1387).
