Samsung is known worldwide as one of the largest technology brands that exists today, this company has been presented at the IFA 2018 with the exhibition of a new flagship television called Samsung Q900R, which has stood out in many ways, among other things, because it is the first 8K quality television that most people can buy.
It should be noted that, obviously, this TV is incredibly large, with screen sizes ranging from 65 to 85 inches. And of course, it has an 8K resolution, it’s not a simulation, much less a prototype, it’s a real TV that will hit the market in a matter of months.
Samsung Q900R: Design
Due to the enormous size of the Samsung Q900R, the company has re-implemented the feet in the corners of the screen, for reasons of stability. However, there is also an option that allows you to stick your feet in the middle of the device. This TV has a One Invisible Connection system, which keeps all the plugs separated in a box of external connections that box as such, is connected to the TV by means of a thin and almost invisible cable.
Samsung Q900R: Specifications
It was already known in advance that Samsung was working on an 8K device, due to some posters that became known some time ago, with this information that is confirmed. Now that this new television is known, it should also be known that it has a resolution of 7680 × 4320 pixels, or rather, 16 times the full HD standard. With respect to the processor, it has a Quantum Processor 8K chip. To understand it better, Samsung has created an algorithm that is based on pattern recognition and calculates the additional pixels that are needed, in this way, the chip will use a huge database of images, which, according to Samsung, will be updated constantly as you learn new images.
Regarding its versions, Samsung has said that this television will be manufactured in models of 65, 75, 82 and 85 inches, however, it is not even known which versions will reach Europe. The maximum brightness that this TV can reach is up to 4000 nits, so a clear and enormously dynamic image is expected, of course, since this brightness is a challenge for any LCD, Samsung has decided to use a FALD system (local attenuation) of full matrix). The supported high dynamic range formats include standard HDR10 and HLG friendly to the transmission. This TV will not offer support for Dolby Vision. One of the HDMI ports will be HDMI 2.1 that supports an 8K image input at 30fps.
Currently the price is not known what this device could have, however, it is known that the Samsung Q900R will be available in stores at the end of September of this year, or at least, that is expected.
