With the launch of the Redmi Note 7, the company made the Redmi brand independent. This was necessary because the lower prices tags of Mi series handsets and the upper price tags of the Redmi line devices already crossed. To free the former brand from the limitations conditioned by the internal competition and strategy, the manufacturer decided to separate these brands. On the one hand, the Note 7 continues the best traditions of its most popular smartphone line. But on the other hand, it’s a great handset sporting many top-end features and priced quite affordable. In fact, our protagonist features a 48MP camera, which makes us think it’s going to compete with the Huawei Nova 4 and Honor V20. As for the Note 7, it’s priced at $289.99.

The new Redmi Note 7 sports a 6.3-inch drop screen with a 1.95mm narrow frame, a screen ratio of 19.5:9, a resolution of 2340×1080, a 450 nits brightness, an 84% NTSC color gamut, a step-less color temperature adjustment, a sunscreen (Highlight mode), a luminous screen, eye protection mode, etc. This is the first drop screen phone in the Redmi series. Seems this is the selling point of this handset. But it’s not so. The crystal clear 2.5D double-sided glass and illusion gradient make the Note 7 show a dynamic light and shadow change effect, and the machine offers three color options of Twilight Gold, Dream Blue, and Bright Black. Before the phones went live, it was promoted as one of the most durable devices of the manufacturer. In fact, the front panel is covered with the Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
In terms of core configuration, the Redmi Note 7 is equipped with a full-blooded version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, of which the CPU clock speed is up to 2.2GHz. Thus, it’s a head higher than the regular variant used by its rivals. Moreover, the performance of the ‘full-blooded version’ Snapdragon 660 is slightly higher than the Kirin 710.
The Redmi Note 7 is also packed with a new graphite negative anode 4000mAh large battery, which supports QC4 charging. At the same time, this battery is capable of providing half and a day of endurance.
As said above, one of the most outstanding features of the Redmi Note 7 is the camera. Its rear main camera uses the Samsung GM1 photosensitive element. The photosensitive element size is 1/2 inches, the resolution is 48MP, the single pixel is 0.8?m, and due to the high-sensitivity four-in-one technology, a single pixel can be generated a 12?m resolution photo of 1.8?m. Shortly, photos taken with this camera can be turned into big posters easily. This handset also has the same algorithm of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 super night scene. Thus, without a tripod, users can shoot a very clear night scene holding it in hands. The 48MP sensor is paired with a 5MP lens.
The Redmi Note 7 has selected the PA components of the same supplier as Apple, the DSM dynamic gain control, custom AAC micro-speaker, and increased the volume of the external speaker by 2.5 times. The handset also uses an independent box 0.64cc large sound cavity design, resulting in stable sealing performance.
For the front camera, the Redmi Note 7 is equipped with a 13MP lens that supports AI smart beauty, single-camera, and scene recognition. Of course, face unlocking is also a must.
