We are starting 2019 and Xiaomi wants to offer its users Android Pie, the latest version of the operating system. This will achieve thanks to the update of some of the most popular terminals of 2017 and last year. This news was revealed in the Chinese MIUI forum where the phones that are ready to obtain the update were listed. Among them, we can mention the Xiaomi Mi 6X, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 (Redmi Note 5 Pro in India), the Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro and the Xiaomi Redmi S2 (Redmi Y2 in India).
At least four Xiaomi smartphones will receive Android Pie
In addition to the basic versions of Android, Xiaomi smartphones also need updates from MIUI to obtain new features and stability improvements. For this reason, updating a terminal from one Android version to another is a process that takes more time on a Xiaomi device.
According to a publication in the official forum of MIUI, Xiaomi is recruiting beta testers for Android Pie for the Redmi Note 5, Mi 6X, Redmi S2, and Redmi 6 Pro smartphones. Although we mentioned Redmi Note 5 Pro and Redmi Y2 before, which are designed for the Indian market, we still do not know for sure when they will have their update to Android Pie. However, it is believed that their Chinese counterparts along with their other two partners will receive the update during this first quarter of 2019.
Finally, if you want to participate in the beta program for these devices, go here and follow the instructions on the page. But first, we want to clarify that all the information is in Chinese.
