I really love backpacks and I use them wherever I go. They are my favorite accessory because they have loads of room and I can just about stuff anything in them. Whether it’s my commute to and from work, traveling, shopping or whatever I always carry a backpack with me. The best part is my hands are always free and my belongings are safely tucked away in the bag. These days many companies are coming out with anti-theft backpacks.
An anti-theft backpack is an excellent way to help secure your belongings. It’s designed with modern technology to help keep your belongings safe, while also giving you some perks, such as built-in USB ports to charge your smart devices. So like everybody else I too decided to jump on the bandwagon and got the Pacsafe Venturesafe X18 Small Turtle 2018 New Anti-Theft Backpack and I used it for 10 days to get a real good feel out of it.
The reason I wanted to test out an anti-theft backpack is because:
· They are Durable
An incredible thing about these backpacks is their durability. They are made with a strong fabric, such as polyester or PVC, which helps to make them tear resistant. They also are water-resistant which means if you accidentally get stuck out in the rain or some water splashes on it, there’s no need to worry.
· They are Versatile
Not only can you use these to transport items around, but you can use them for many other purposes as well. For instance, many often come with a USB charger port which you can use to keep your devices charged while you’re on the go. They also can be transformed from a backpack into a bag thanks to the handle on the top of them.
· They are Secure
Anti-theft backpacks are truly anti-theft. They are made to be strong and secure. You’ll find that they sometimes come with RFID protection, lockable zippers, buckles, and hidden pockets – all of which are meant to help better secure your belongings inside.
So without waiting any longer, here is my honest review of the Pacsafe Venturesafe X18 Small Turtle 2018 New Anti-Theft Backpack.
Design and Appearance:
Meet Pacsafe Venturesafe X18 Venturesafe X18 Small Turtle, the latest innovative design in anti-theft luggage. This backpack comes with tons of safety features that make it perfect for students, frequent flyers, bike commuters, and business travelers alike.
The Pacsafe Venturesafe X18Venturesafe X18 is the latest version of Pacsafe series launched in 2018. The company officially launched four colors; black, green, purple and blue. I chose the black model. It is objectively stable and mature. Subjectively speaking, it is resistant to dirt and is well I think it looks really classy and cool.
It is reasonable to say that the bag at this price is larger and better than my expectations. The bag came to me, not in some cool cardboard packaging but simply in another that which itself was only slightly bigger than the Pacsafe Venturesafe X18. The Bobby is a back panel-loading bag with around 18L of volume by my estimate (couldn’t find the exact spec). To me, Pacsafe Venturesafe X18 looks very much like a regular backpack when I look at it from the front and back sides, heck it looks just like the one I took to college. I haven’t really decided if that’s a good thing or not, because when you are spending money on something you at least want that thing to stand out or look different right? Or maybe that’s just me.
As can be seen from the label on the Pacsafe Venturesafe X18, the bag has a nominal capacity of 18L, dimensions of 47cm * 30cm * 19.5cm and a weight of approximately 910g. It is really slim and petite in size but will swell up once you start stuffing things inside. I personally felt that the18L capacity is just fine (I mean come on people it’s a backpack, what do you want to fit in it) but, I was reading some user reviews online and saw that people had a problem with the storage this bag had to offer and felt that 18L wasn’t enough space.
In terms of its shape, as soon as I laid it flat on a surface, my first reaction was ohh it looks like a raindrop. I don’t know if anybody else thought it looked like that. The front of the bag is really simple and there is only the Pacsafe logo on the front. The back is also really simple with two straps that enable you to carry the backpack on your shoulders. The back is designed with a chest strap and a belt to meet the stability of long-distance carrying. The chest strap can be adjusted in both height and length. In addition to the adjustable length, the belt has a detachable design. The shoulder strap is designed with a buckle and a shackle for easy attachment of small items such as walkie-talkies, flashlights, kettles, etc.
The main material of the backpack is 200D polyester Oxford @PU1000mm, plus the outer 210D, in principle, double waterproof. The interior of the backpack is multi-pocket design, including the main bag, computer position, wallet position, passport position, pen holder position, etc. Daily travel items can be stored in separate categories, keeping the items in the bag neatly.
The Pacsafe Venturesafe X18 comes jam-packed with a lot of cool features that make your belongings secure and safe from pickpockets. Here are some of the few that I found really useful.
Hidden Zipper Design
The Pacsafe Venturesafe X18 was the first backpack I became aware of that had all zippers located on the back of the bag, which is the primary characteristic that makes this an anti-theft backpack. While wearing the bag, it is impossible for anyone to access any pockets without sticking his/her hand between your back and the bag.
The Pacsafe Venturesafe X18 bag only has one real compartment, so it’s a plus that there are organizational pockets inside of it. Like any laptop bag, it has a padded laptop sleeve on the back that could probably fit a 15in. laptop, and a smaller tablet sleeve large enough for an iPad mini or Kindle (it doesn’t extend all the way to the bottom). The laptop sleeve is suspended a little from the bottom.
On the front side of the compartment, there are three padded slots: two on the bottom and one at the top. One of the bottom pockets is larger and intended for a thermos, while the other can store items like power cords or glasses. The one at the top can store additional small items and also has a zippered compartment good for pens/pencils, lip balm, etc
Carrysafe anti-cut shoulder strap
To the naked eye looks like the Pacsafe Venturesafe X18 shoulder strap looks like the strap of any other backpack. But in reality, under the mesh cloth, it is obvious that the venting hole can be seen, which is convenient for airflow and is good for perspiration. In fact, the official introduction said that the shoulder strap has been embedded anti-cut wire. Actually, it is really hard to touch the edge of the shoulder of the Pacsafe Venturesafe X18, but it is difficult to see what is inside the wire from the outside, but in the connection backpack the area can be seen as reinforcement.
I then took a pair of scissors and a knife and went at the strap for a good two minutes and just as the company had advertised, nothing happened and I wasn’t able to cut through the wire there were some visible abrasions and cuts on the cloth.
Interlocked interlocking safety zipper
The anti-theft zipper of the Pacsafe Venturesafe X18 front pocket is definitely a highlight. It seems like it is inspired by the lock of the luggage. The two zippers are interlocking pairs, which can be pulled in both directions. The side design has a lock pile and a zipper. After locking, it can be buckled on the lock pile and can be locked with the anti-theft bolt. Although this idea is chic, the actual operation still takes some time to complete, but the words are how to say it is convenient for you. The thief is convenient, and he has trouble at least at least a minimum of security.
PopnLock anti-theft security buckle
The shoulder on the left side has a special anti-theft hook, which can quickly open the shoulder strap and wrap it around the attached equipment, such as iron tables and chairs, columns, etc., to achieve the effect of placing the thief. The PopnLock anti-theft safety buckle actually seen is long, divided into an internal lock column and an external lock sleeve.
Both are made of metal. The front end has a spring button. When pressed, the lock post can be removed from the lock sleeve. take out. The button can be rotated, but after the button is reversed, the spring is locked, there is no way to press it, the operation is quite convenient.
RFIDsafe shielding pocket
Passports, credit cards, and ID cards are essential when traveling abroad. These documents are equipped with RFID microchips. Some hackers can steal these chip information wirelessly using a special reader at 3 meters away. The Pacsafe Venturesafe X18 bag comes with The RFIDsafe pocket uses special fabrics to prevent theft of information by shielding the transmission of internal wireless signals.
Daily Carry Experience
Since my primary usage of the Pacsafe Venturesafe X18 anti-theft bag was for work and commute, the interior organization was absolutely essential. The simplicity and the limited number of pockets actually worked to its advantage as most items naturally fall into one or two places.
The fact that the bag is freestanding (while open, closed, and even empty!) also made it convenient to use at home or in the office.
Pacsafe Venturesafe X18 Final Verdict:
