Android Nougat 7.1.1 (Oxygen OS 4.1.0)
Oneplus 3t was launched in November 2016 and it is basically a bumped up version of its predecessor oneplus 3 in terms of specification and battery. At the launch event of oneplus 3t the company has promised that they will update both their devices oneplus 3 and 3t to the latest version of android which is android nougat and they surprised everyone as it announced the rollout of the Official Android Nougat 7.0 based OxygenOS for OnePlus 3 and 3T before the end of 2016.
OnePlus is now rolling out the latest OxygenOS update 4.1.0 globally for both the smartphones in the form of OTA update with official support for Android 7.1.1 Nougat. So let’s checkout what’s new in this update and what are the major changes.

The first major change is the android version which has been upgraded to 7.1.1 nougat from 7.0 and this will basically bring some new features to the table along with that the Google security patch which is also updated to 1st march 2017. Security patches play a very important role in protecting your android devices from security vulnerabilities and not all OEMs are providing latest security patches to their devices and that’s why a big thumbs up to oneplus.
Next major change is the ability to take expanded screenshots. Now you can take long screen shorts of any webpage or screen on your device. In order to do that swipe your 3 finger over the screen to take the screen shot and just press this icon and tilt your device in order to scroll down or up.
Moving forward to the next change which is the improved video stability while recording. As we know that oneplus 3t has both optical and electronic image stabilization which give a smooth video footage without using a gimbal or stand but I personally experience that previously there were some minor glitches on the software side which oneplus has addressed in this update and the video stability is now much improved. Here is a small video sample.
Next one is improved picture taking of moving object with blur reduction. This is basically a minor change which will reduce the blurriness if you take a picture of moving objects and improve the overall image quality. To test this I have taken some sample images of moving objects and frankly speaking I didn’t notice any major change.
In terms of connectivity some improvements has been made in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth department which also includes some unnamed bug fixes. So all and all this is a very stable built of oxygen os and I am testing it since 24 hours and I didn’t face any force close or any other issue and I am very satisfied with this build.
How to get this update right now?
Now this is incremental update and only available for some selected regions and it is not yet globally rolled out, but if you want to try this out right now then here is a small bonus tip for your guys.
First Head over to play store and search for VPN and download this Snap VPN and open it. Now create a server and select Canada as your VPN server and you are ready to go, just go to the updater app in the setting menu, here you will see the update. Currently it’s not showing in mine because I have already updated my device to the latest version on oxygen os 4.1.0 as you can see that and I also followed the same method.
