In September 2018, Oukitel, GearBest, and DX.com launched a joint promotional campaign to release one of the latest affordable Android smartphones. We are talking about the Oukitel C12 Pro, the Chinese manufacturer’s mobile phone with the largest screen. At just $69.99, it goes for what you can call a steal!
It is a smartphone that, at first glance, it competes with the first brands such as Samsung or Huawei but at a very low price. If you are one of those people looking for a phone below the barrier of 100 USD, you have come across the perfect article and that is for a price even lower than 80 USD.
Oukitel C12 Pro: Product description
Who said that to have a cheap smartphone, you have to give up some functions? We speak of a huge screen of 6.18 inches with a notch, a thin profile, outstanding performance and a battery which fits the size of the screen. This new model has to its credit one of the largest screens Oukitel has ever mounted on a mobile.
With that almost laughable price, the Oukitel C12 Pro becomes the most affordable terminal of the brand. However, that does not mean that you can not get an excellent user experience when watching videos in full screen or in everyday applications.
The Oukitel C12 Pro is a mobile that does not go unnoticed thanks to its large 6.18-inch screen with a notch on top and 19: 9 aspect ratio that offers very narrow frames throughout the perimeter of the front.
On the back stand out very careful finishes that have three different colors in black, purple and gold; the first of them a finish with a non-slip feel. Both the purple and gold have undergone a treatment of UV celluloid paint with which a spectacular brilliant effect is achieved.
The smooth line of the rear is interrupted by the presence of a fingerprint sensor and a double rear camera. The fingerprint sensor of the Oukitel C12 Pro not only allows you to unlock the terminal in a matter of tenths of a second, but it also acts as a button with which you can take photos, navigate through the interface or control the music player among other functions.
As far as photographic features are concerned, the Oukitel C12 Pro mounts a double rear camera equipped with an 8-megapixel sensor next to a secondary 2-megapixel camera that allows you to take portraits with a bokeh effect to blur the background, while the front mounts a 5-megapixel camera.
The processor responsible for the running of the Oukitel C12 Pro is the MediaTek MT6739. This quad-core processor allows the C12 Pro to run games smoothly thanks to 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage.
You can expand internal storage up to 64 GB more using one of the spaces that allow you to install two nano SIM cards next to aD.
The Oukitel C12 Pro has a highly optimized hardware. By having a generous screen, the Oukitel C12 Pro needs a good battery to support that consumption. With a capacity of 3,300 mAh – not impressive but manageable – the battery of the new affordable Android mobile from Oukitel offers up to a day of autonomy of use.
Oukitel C12 Pro: The entry-level phone with great design
The truth is that with the passage of time, brands seem to have forgotten the real entry ranges when it comes to the pricing. We always associate smartphones with a price close to 200 US dollars or more as the entry range. However, we always forget customers that can not or is willing to spend more than 100 USD. Therefore, we have seen that the C12 Pro is the best smartphone that we can find in this price range because it has a good specification sheet without practically giving up anything.
Whatever the price, the points we look for in a phone are always the same: that has good design, a good screen, that is safe, has decent cameras, etc.
Instinctively, when we especially want a good balance between these characteristics, we look at telephones with higher prices, but the Oukitel C12 Pro, with a price of just below 100 USD (or 77.68 euros), offers everything we look for in a balance much higher than the price we would pay for it.
Oukitel C12 is a smartphone with a design very similar to those that are launching major brands like Samsung, but with a much lower price. You will have a screen that occupies practically the entire front panel and that the only thing that can deviate your look will be the aesthetics with the notch. The notch at the top of the screen leaves room for the front camera and the sensors. Thanks to this part, you will have face recognition technology to unlock your mobile with just a glance.
The 2.5D curved glass will give you a more immersive visual experience, in addition to better adapting to the rest of the structure of your smartphone. With IPS technology, the device is able to show you very sharp images, with realistic colors even in the brightest scenarios. At the back, it follows the trend of other phones, leaving space for a dual rear camera right in the center and a fingerprint sensor below it. With the fingerprint sensor, you can unlock the screen with just a touch without entering any passwords.
The Oukitel C12 Pro leaves no features on the way:
The C12 Pro offers a design that we are used to seeing in much more expensive terminals, with a notch on the screen of a size similar to the iPhone X and tight frames around its 6.18-inch screen in 19:9 format. This format allows the phone to be very compact and narrower than normal, which gives it more grip.
Its construction is in polycarbonate, like the Pocophone F1, which without being as premium as other materials, offers great resistance to the passage of time and shock, thus protecting the internal characteristics of the Oukitel C12 Pro. Of course, nowadays, every phone must have a fingerprint reader for greater security but the device also offers facial recognition so that its users have state-of-the-art features and can unlock their phones the way they prefer.
Features of Oukitel C12 Pro
Below are the vivid descriptions of some of the main features of the Oukitel C12 Pro:
Design and screen
There is a bit of downside in this aspect. The screen of Oukitel C12 Pro has an elegant and attractive design, with a superior notch, a protection with 2.5D curved glass, a modern format 19: 9 and a large diagonal of 6.18 inches. However, the technical specifications are less exciting, although it is an LCD IPS type screen, which is excellent. However, its resolution only reaches 960 × 480 pixels, which means that the pixel density is only 179PPI. The combination of a large diagonal with such modest resolution does not help.
The terminal has a profile of 9.7mm and comes in a polycarbonate shell. As mentioned earlier, its presentation of colors is black, gold and purple.
Memory, processor and operating system
The processor that runs this new terminal is the MediaTek MT6739, a quad-core at 1.5GHz that offers good performance, allows 4G LTE connectivity and is efficient in power consumption. The graphics card that accompanies it is the PowerVR IMG 8XE. The memory of Oukitel C12 Pro has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of ROM which is expandable via MicroSD slot up to a maximum of 64 GB. The operating system that combines with this hardware is the Android 8.1 Oreo, which is excellent and speaks well of the software of this device.
We know that you will use many applications on your phone and therefore, the smartphone has a good processor manufactured by MediaTek, accompanied by sufficient storage memory. By the way, we can use double SIM while we have the MicroSD card. Knowing all its characteristics, we repeat: it’s just for $69.99 or thereabouts; you can not ask for anything else for this price.
The battery specs
If you’re concerned about the battery life of your phone, do not worry, the battery capacity of the C12 Pro will be more than enough to get to the end of the day without any problems.
The battery of the device has a generous capacity of 3300mAh, which in conjunction with the low demands of the screen, gives us excellent autonomy. It offers 20 hours of talk time, 300 hours of standby or almost 5 hours of continuous video playback. Pretty good!
Dual cameras for your photo bokeh
If you are interested in knowing its photographic section, it has two cameras in the back that will allow you to play with blurring as if it were an SLR camera. As for the front camera, there are 5 megapixels, more than enough for selfies that we publish on different social networks.
The main camera of Oukitel C12 Pro is dual and its sensors are 8MP + 2MP. It has LED flash which offers better selfies.
The camera of your smartphone will be a window to the world and for this Oukitel C12 Pro, it is composed of a dual camera for you to take photos as if you were doing with a reflex camera. Your photos will be with a very professional bokeh effect, ideal to upload to social networks like Instagram and show off with your friends.
We already mentioned that the terminal allows 4G LTE connectivity. We also have WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS navigation. The usual connectors are present, such as the micro USB 2.0 with OTG and the 3.5 mm connector. There is no lack of FM radio, and it has both a fingerprint sensor and Face ID technology for facial unlocking.

Conclusions and our opinion on Oukitel C12 Pro
Oukitel C12 Pro is an entry-level smartphone with good and comfortable specifications in all aspects, although with the resolution of the screen, the company “has gone too far” in less. As there is no negative that does not come good, we can boast of a good autonomy, and this is thanks in part to the modest resolution of the screen. On the other hand, we have a good hardware, a dual camera, and facial locking systems as well as a fingerprint sensor, all for a price that does not exceed 100 US dollars.
If you are not ready to pay over the nose for more expensive devices, then we totally recommend the Oukitel C12 Pro.
