Oukitel U7 Pro 3G Phablet Review

Mobile phones have come a long way since 2005. Earlier a mobile phone meant a device which was used to call people but now, a mobile phone is no longer a mobile phone, it is now a smartphone. Smartphones are getting low on price day by day but big on features. One such phone is the Oukitel U7 Pro 3G Phablet!

The device is made for the budget users, comes with some interesting specifications but is Oukitel U7 Pro worth the money?

Let’s check it out!

The moment we unboxed Oukitel U7 Pro we got a vibe of awesomeness. The box comes with the Smartphone, 1 x Battery, 1 x Power Adapter, 1 x Usb Cable and 1 x English manual.

The build quality on the Oukitel U7 Pro is really great as compared to the other smartphones in the same price-range.  It has a whopping 5.5-inch qHD IPS display having a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. The display looks bright and vivid, although is not as sharp as people want it to be. But since you are getting the device for such a low price, you shouldn’t complain.

Oukitel U7 Pro

Smartphone’s body is coated with piano lacquer paint on the back. It measures 15.67 x 7.81 x 0.88 cm / 6.16 x 3.07 x 0.35 inches.

Oukitel U7 Pro comes with an elegant design along with a premium look and totally looks as if you are holding a $500 phone in your hand. It is available in three different colors: Space Grey, Champagne Gold and Ivory White.

There are volume rockers on the left of the device and the power button on the right. Audio port along with the Micro-USB port can be found on the top of the device..

That was all about the design and the build quality of the device. Now let’s move towards the display of the phone!

Oukitel U7 Pro comes with a 5.5 inch HD IPS LCD Display and does support multi-touch. The device is even capable of showing 16M colors. Since the device is 5.5″ in size with just an HD resolution, do not expect the display to be sharp. This doesn’t means that the display is not sharp, the display is actually sharp but not as much as you would expect a 5.5″ display to be.

The viewing angles are good and the colors are spot on. The color reproduction as well as the sunlight legibility of the device is good. In all, the display is really great for a device worth $69.

Oukitel U7 Pro comes with a 13MP camera on the back and a 2MP camera on the front. The rear camera is capable of shooting FHD videos at 30fps and comes with other features like Geotagging, Autofocus and Flash.

The images clicked by the rear camera decent and are pretty sharp. The colors are bit faded but still look good. Although the images do look a bit over-processed but that can be fixed with the help of an OTA update.

As far as the front camera is concerned, the device houses a 2MP camera on the front and is able to get decent selfies. The front camera is also great for shooting vlogs as well as using it for video calls.

The camera also features normal mode, panorama mode, live photo mode and face beautify. Oukitel has already experimented this photo function on Oukitel K400 and it works perfectly fine on the Oukitel Pro U7.

The hardware is the most interesting part about this device. By just spending $69, you get a lot of great specifications. The device comes with 1GB of RAM and a Quad-Core processor. The processor is MediaTek MT6580 and is clocked at 1.3GHz. The GPU under the hood is Mali 400 GPU. With this RAM, GPU and Processor, users can pull-off moderate games without any problem. Even the device was really good at multi-tasking.

1GB of RAM may sound less but once you use it, you will get to know how good it is. As far as the storage is concerned, you will get 8GB of internal storage out of which you get to use around 5GB. You can even expand it up to 32GB with the help of a MicroSD card.

Unfortunately, Oukitel U7 Pro hasn’t got 4G connectivity. It only supports 2G (GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz ) and 3G (WCDMA 900/1900/2100MHz).

The device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box but there are no words on the Marshmallow update. The UI is fast and snappy, there are no visible sign of lag on a moderate usage. The device even supports a set of gestures which allows you to perform a certain task after you draw the desired gesture.
For example, users cans draw a V on the screen to click an image. These gestures can be set in settings, you can choose the letters and their corresponding applications. All of the gestures work like butter and are not at all clumsy to use.

The device comes with a 2500 mAh of Li-ion battery and works pretty good. Since the device is not having heavy hardware, it doesn’t consumes much battery, as a result you will get good amount of battery life from the device.

The 2500 mAh battery ensures a good lifetime of the phone and will make sure that you get your phone running throughout the day.
