On the front, it sports a flexible 6.42-inch OLED screen from Samsung, with a screen ratio of 19.5:9, which is also the ‘tallest’ product in the smartphone market. And in the case of flexible bending on the left and right sides of the screen, the OPPO Find X is also the first phone using COP packaging technology in China. It folds the bottom screen part and then encapsulates the touch IC on the bent substrate. Thanks to the COP screen packaging process, this handset comes with the world’s narrowest 3.4mm bottom frame in the smartphone industry. With the left and right 1.65mm frame and a 1.91mm top frame, it brings a very good screen immersive experience. Thus this is the next step to the genuine full-screen concept.
On the back side, it uses the same curved surface design. The left and right sides of the back also use a 3D hot pressing treatment, forming a very comfortable and suitable holding arc. OPPO Find X’s Two-Track Predatory Structure And Cameras
In order to make the front side of Find X non-porous, the sensors we are familiar with and the new 3D structured light system added to Find X are integrated into a lifting structure. OPPO calls it a two-track predatory structure. Among this set of periscopes, OPPO integrates front and rear cameras, 3D-structured light modules, and most of the sensors. And a set of small motors is placed in the phone. Then by reducing the damping of the slide rails and softening the connection line and other details, it is finally realized that the double-track can be used with only 0.6s. The structure is expected to rise instantly and there is relatively little mechanical noise. In order to guarantee the service life of this set of lifting structure, OPPO has also designed two sets of protection mechanisms to protect this precise structure from both active and passive states.
The first is the active protection. OPPO has designed a speed gradient process in the motor structure. Simply speaking, it is a buffer rising mode from slow to fast to slow, which also avoids the loss of precision parts caused by the long-term rapid straight-up and straight-down of the motor structure, and improves the service life through a buffering method.
The second is the passive protection. In the using process, there will always be some accidental drops. When the gravity sensor inside the phone detects the abnormal free fall of the handset, the signal will be directly transmitted to the system. When the abnormal signal is received, the structure of the periscope is quickly recovered. Such a recycling mechanism also protects the camera or the 3D structured light module from accidentally dropping when calling. The protection of the periscope structure can be recovered as quickly as possible during the fall without being damaged by the internal structure caused by the drop impact.
The OPPO FaceKey is the only biometric method of the OPPO Find X. Maybe this term is not familiar to many users, but if you use a 3D structured light system to describe it, do you think it is clear? Yes, OPPO officially demonstrated 3D structured light technology in early May of this year and applied it to the flagship product one month later.
The Find X’s 3D structured light technology projects 15,000 recognition points on the human face through a dot matrix projector during the recognition process. A 3D model of a user’s face is constructed through the feedback of these recognition points. The recognition process is completed by matching the previously acquired face contour data by the model data fed back by the projection point at the time of recognition. In addition, an infrared light is built into the 3D structured light technology. Even in a completely dark environment, it can be used with a dot matrix projector to perform laser emission and array feedback of facial contours.
In the actual experience, the OPPO Find X’s 3D structured light system entry process is slightly different from the iPhone X. The Find X did not prompt the user to rotate his head for facial information collection. We guess it’s related to the fact the iPhone X has 30,000 recognition dot matrix, while Find X has only 15,000. So there is not enough dot matrix to collect data in the area around the face. Therefore, the unlocking operation will not be completed in the case of a 45° side face.
When the 3D structured light is used as the only biometric method, there are many awkward cases related to the payment operations. In order to solve this problem, OPPO also cooperates with Alipay to achieve the use of 3D structured light technology instead of password payment.
The 3D structured light technology is used for the 3D personality beauty function as well. For a long time, the beauty functions we have come across are the ‘modular’ beauty effects that manufacturers have developed by investigating user big data. But it is like the two leaves that are not identical. Each of us, as a single individual, also has completely different facial contours. Even the skeletons of twins are completely different. So how to set the beauty effect for a single user has become a big problem for all manufacturers. Who knows your face best? Not a plastic surgeon, not your parents, but you! Therefore, OPPO uses 3D structured light technology to scan the user’s face data to form a 3D facial model. The user can fine-tune the skeletal features of his/her shinbone, nasal bone, and chin to achieve his/her own beauty effect.
OPPO also built four sets of beauty modes, corresponding to the four styles of filter effects that users can choose their own most commonly used style mode to save. In the subsequent photo beauty, we only need to adjust the beauty mode to the ‘custom’ position. So the system can match the previously recorded and adjusted facial data for exclusive beauty.
As for camera hardware, the OPPO Find X is packed with a 25MP Sony IMX576 sensor on the front. It features excellent dark-light noise control and strong color reproduction. On the opposite side, it carries a 16MP + 20MP dual-camera. The main sensor is the Sony IMX519, featuring an ultra-high sampling rate and more accurate & faster dynamic pictures. At the same time, it supports OIS. The brightness of the screen is obviously improved.
The OPPO Find X is equipped with a RAW HDR function. Compared with other HDR functions, it captures screen that forms RAW format and then compresses. The RAW HDR can be used in the original RAW format after image capture to avoid loss of image information caused by data compression. The depth of field information of the screen is also clearer when an HDR portrait is taken.
At the same time, the OPPO Find X also supports the scene camera function. There are 21 types of independent scenes and the combined effect gain of up to 800 scenes.

In the dark, the brightness gain is also kept within a reasonable range, and at the same time, there is a good light adjustment for the highlighted part.
