OnePlus TV to Configure Android TV Software Updates for at Least 3 Years

The Chinese company OnePlus is finally ready to launch OnePlus TV next month in India. We heard speculations for years but now getting a new piece of the puzzle. The OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has revealed in a forum post that the OnePlus TV will get at least three years of Android TV software updates.

To recall, it can be the first time that any smart Android TV producer has publicly committed to set up an update support window like this. No doubt, it is a good step by the company.

OnePlus is focusing on the smartphone segment. It conducted a big launch in the form of OnePlus 7 series. And OnePlus 7T series is expected to launch in the upcoming months. But before that, the company has something big coming first. It is regarding the OnePlus TV, which is going to get a software update for at least 3 years.

Leaks and features of OnePlus Tv

A post by the CEO reveals more details about the Android OS the TV is running on. Furthermore, the company is thinking of establishing an IoT (Internet of Things) ecosystem starting from the OnePlus TV. Now, this is the hint that TV can be attached to Android smartphones.

Meanwhile, Pete Lau also revealed that the TV will receive at least 3 years of Android TV software updates. It is most likely the same update strategy the company employs on its smartphones.

The OnePlus TV will install a 55-inch QLED display, 3 GB RAM, and MediaTek MT5670 processor on the chipset.

Earlier this month, Lau announced in an interview that OnePlus TV will be based on the Android platform with a custom user interface. It is just like how OnePlus smartphones take OxygenOS on top of Android.
