At the beginning of 2018, Charm Blue sub-brand launched its first full-screen smartphone, the Meizu M6S. It didn’t follow the common back fingerprint design, which is a mainstream in the market. Instead, it used side-type fingerprints. Probably customers liked this approach. As a result, it became a Single product sales champion. Following this, Charm Blue launched the Meizu E3, which continues using a full-screen and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Moreover, it came with impressive hardware, including a Snapdragon 636 SoC, a dual-camera with the Sony IMX362 + IMX350, etc. Thanks to these features, it achieved quite good sales as well. Now the question is, can the Meizu M6T improve the formula? let’s find out in this review.
On May 29, Charm Blue released the third phone of this year, the Meizu M6T. The machine adopts an 18:9 ratio screen design, equipped with an MT6750, and uses a rear fingerprint. Yes, no mistake, this is the first model of Charm Blue that comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint reader. In addition, it uses a 13MP dual-camera on the back. But what’s more important, it costs 799 yuan ($120) only.

Meizu M6T Design
There are three colors you can choose from – ochre black, champagne gold, and coral red. The memory combinations divided into three options as well – 3+32GB, 4+32GB, and 4+64GB. We are reviewing the lowest model.
Its packaging uses the same design as the rest of Charm Blue models. The only difference is the model name.
On the back, as usual, it carries a detailed information about this model.
The Meizu M6T sports a 5.7-inch full-screen with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It’s a mainstream screen that provides better visual experience.
On the forehead, we can see the indicator light, headset, proximity sensor and the front-facing camera.
In order to narrow the chin, the manufacturer has to remove the fingerprint scanner to the back. Instead of the mBack physical button, now there is a virtual circle that fully substitutes it.
The Meizu M6T uses a back panel made out of polycarbonate. This material is used widely. But the manufacturer uses coatings provided by the suppliers in the aviation automotive field to make the grip more delicate. The corners are rounded a lot. Plus, it weighs 145 grams only. Even users with very small palms can hold it easily.
On the upper side, there are the dual-camera, flashlight, and the fingerprint scanner.
A bit lower, we can see the company’s logo.
The Meizu M6T’s bottom side carries a speaker, a micro USB port, and a microphone. However, there are two grills, but only one of them hides the speaker. It’s been done to provide a symmetrical design.
On the opposite side, the phone sports a 3.5mm audio jack.
The power button along with the volume rocker is placed on the right side.
As usual, the SIM card slot is on the left.

Meizu M6T Performance
Meizu is gradually switching to Qualcomm chips. But the Meizu M6T still uses a MediaTek MT6750. It’s a very popular SoC that can be found in tons of mid-range and low-end smartphones. This chipset uses an octa-core design with A53 architecture and a clock speed of1.5GHz. It also integrates the T860 MP2 GPU. The previous Charm Blue models in face of the M5 and M6 are using it as well. But this time, it will get a good optimization, undoubtedly. However, we have to state this is the main reason why the M6T costs 799 yuan.
The phone scores 50.390, which is a standard result for this chip. However, it makes us put the Meizu M6T into the category of low-end smartphones.
In the multi-core test, the phone scores 2506 points.
The results of this test show it can meet the daily tasks.
The continuous reading speed is around 270MB/s.
Meizu M6T Camera
Though the camera of this phone can’t be taken as a flagship module, it still provides great shooting experience if taking into account the price range it belongs to. The Meizu M6T is packed with a 13MP + 2MP dual-camera that uses a Sony IMX278 RGBW four-color sensor, which can add CMOS filter area to the color filter to make it receive more extraneous light to enhance dimming. Apart from the multi-frame noise reduction technology, it also preserves more dark details on the software level, enhancing the low-light photo experience.
The 13MP main camera is responsible for framing and focusing, while the 2MP camera is responsible for ranging, which brings hardware-level blurring, and can present a clear image with clear edges.
The macro shooting performance is quite acceptable. It is capable of clearly distinguishing the details.
The Meizu M6T’s camera also reproduces realistic colors. But this statement doesn’t refer to all cases because some scenes are backlit, which will cause slight overexposure.
Of course, it has an ability to blur the background.
Surprisingly, the night shots are clear enough. Actually, the sensors get sufficient light to provide a relatively detailed imaging.
The Meizu M6T uses the ArcSoft Beauty algorithm, which makes the skin more vivid and bright, look soft and natural, and has no large-scale application marks.
Meizu M6T Battery
Our protagonist is equipped with a 3300mAh battery. Thanks to system optimization and screen quality, it is quite durable.
Online video testing
When testing, the volume was 40%, the brightness was 50%, and the remaining power was 65%.
After 30 minutes, the power dropped to 59%. Thus, it consumes 6% in half an hour when playing videos online.
The test was held by Honor of Kings. The remaining power at 34%. After 30 minutes, it dropped to 22%.
PCMark endurance test
This time, the brightness was 30%, the volume was 20%, and the WiFi was ON.
Even with the 3300mAh battery, the Meizu M6T’s PCMark endurance result can reach nearly 9 hours.
The phone started charging when there was a remaining power of 5%. In total, it took 135 minutes to fully charge the handset.
The Bottom Line
It’s obvious, we have been reviewing an entry-level smartphone. But it is also surprising to see Meizu could come in with a handset that not only costs quite affordable but can boast of a couple features such as a camera and a mainstream look. So we have to write down Meizu has been transformed and it can become a competitive brand in the nearest future.
