Our protagonist ‘Jumper EZpad 6’ is among one of those gadgets.

Jumper EZpad 6 is a 2 in 1 tablet. In other words, a Hybrid Notebook which offers some fantasized hardware under an exquisite chassis for $169.99. Let’s know more about China’s latest tablet and discover the good and the bad side:

Jumper EZpad 6 Review – A Lightweight Beast

Design & Appearance

Believe it or not, this section is the selling point of EZpad 6. Why? Because the striking design improving its elegant appearance is what Jumper EZpad series is all about. With the dimensions of 29.00 x 18.00 x 0.60 – 1.00 cm and weighing 700 grams, EZpad 6 is praised for being extremely mobile as a Hybrid. Although there are some thicker tablets in the market, still they are way expensive than Jumper’s latest tablet. You may think that 700 grams are why heavier but not for an 11.6-incher. That’s the reason why we consider it to be a Hybrid notebook rather than a tablet. With a dedicated keyboard attached, the tablet forms a notebook with a total weight of 1.4 kg which is still acceptable for a laptop.

Jumper EZpad 6 review - Sides

Jumper EZpad 6 molds from plastic like the rest of EZpad series and silk like feeling while holding. It has a sleek design as the thickness varies starting from the top which is 60mm and ending with 100 mm. The design is similar to most of the notebooks, not the tablets. Jumper puts more weight on the bottom rather than uniform on both sides. The reason is to provide an effortless opening with one hand when the tablet is attached to the keyboard dock, and the lid is closed.

A beautiful dedicated keyboard dock is sold separately. The black keys contrasting to the white chassis is wonderful.

The touchpad of the keyboard dock is also black and is smaller in size when compared with touchpad of other notebooks. A plus point is that the touchpad supports scrolling and other smart gestures.

Openings are witnessed on both sides, congruently, for the speakers and heat emission (not a big deal as the hardware is energy-efficient). On the left side we have numerous ports (see: connectivity). Volume bar and lock screen button are present on the top. Meanwhile, on the bottom, we have the 5 Pin magnetic terminal for keyboard attachment.

In short, the manufacturer blesses EZpad 6 the maximum mobility possible for a 12-inch Hybrid 2in1 Tablet along with intelligent sleek design and alluring appearance. For a better design and a kickstand see: Teclast Tbook 16 Power Review

Screen & Display

Although the standard screen sizes for most of the tablet lies between 7 to 10-inch, EZpad 6 is exceptional with an over the limit 11.6-inch screen size. Like we said before, that’s why it acts more like a notebook rather than a tablet if you buy its dedicated keyboard dock. The viewing angles (178-degree maximum) are fabulous as it’s an IPS display. And the best part is the Full-HD resolution on an enormous 10 point capacitive screen under $170 which seems like a dream come true. Like any Chinese tablets, the bezels are thick defining the tablet tradition. The color saturation and the contrast seem to be perfect on the IPS display.

The bad side of the display was its brightness. There are tons of tablets out there which features a glare screen. With a brightness below 180 cd/m, Jumper EZpad 6 is one of them. Although the text is still visible, the reflection is annoying in sunlight as well as room light.

Hardware & Performance

To be honest, you won’t find a powerhouse configuration like a Snapdragon 821 or Intel i7-6700 HQ inside Jumper EZpad 6. It’s made for two purposes only: Mobility and Energy Efficiency. That’s why EZpad 6 depends on a Quad Core Intel Atom X5 (aka Cherry Trail Z8350) processor running at an energy efficient frequency of 1.44GHz accompanied by 4 Gigs of RAM and Intel Gen 8 (aka Intel HD 400). Even though the SoC is highly power saving still a better choice could have been the latest Intel Atom X7 which is way powerful, energy efficient and features onboard Intel HD 500 Graphics. But, everything is fair for that price. However, for better performance, we prefer Chuwi Lapbook 14.1 with Intel Apollo Lake SoC.

Plus, we have 64GB eMMC storage. Since it runs on Windows 10 only, there is some space left but still back up has been provided with the MicroSD slot supporting up to 256GB.

Connectivity & Camera

Jumper EZpad 6 features numerous connectivity features. That’s why we have divided this section into further sub-sections: Wireless & Wired

First, in the wireless section, EZpad 6 integrates a standard WiFi 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0. It should be noted that Bluetooth 4.0 is too rare to found in Chinese tablet these days. Instead, we find an old Bluetooth 2.1, but this hotshot right here is an exception.

Jumper EZpad 6 review - Ports

Coming to the wired category, we have tons of ports all situated on the left side of the product. These include a Mini HDMI port, SD slot, Micro USB slot, DC Jack for charging and a 3.5mm audio jack. You can connect an external 2.5′ HDD, but sadly external power supply is needed.

Apart from all these, the tablet also features a 2MP front camera, but like most of the tablets, it’s not worth of mentioning. Seriously, when will tablet come with a Sony sensor.

OS & Battery

Like we said, Jumper EZpad 6 runs on an activated Windows 10. Sadly, it’s not dual boot with Android OS like in Teclast Tbook 12. But still, we have the advantage of some space left which Android occupied in Dual OS tablets. Multimedia is not an issue on Windows as it’s the most versatile (can play any audio, video or music format) or probably the best operating system with millions of programs and most games.

Jumper EZpad 6 review - OS

A generous 4 GB RAM runs Windows smoothly but still with the old SoC it may limit some features such as video editing, studio work, playing demanding games, etc. Obviously, you can’t play GTA 5 on it but Windows Stores games like Hill Climb, even Dota 2 at lowest resolution and settings. Here’s a sample of a game on it:

A tremendous 7000 mAh Polymer Lithium battery powers Jumper EZpad 6. You can run it for 5 hours on a single charge. If the display had been small it would have worked for 2 to 3 extra hours. Still, 5 hours is sufficient. Energy efficient hardware once again saves the day.

Our Verdict

For a budget-friendly price, Jumper EZpad 6 is a nice choice for those who consider budget as their priority and don’t need some heart pounding performance. Although, it has low brightness but a huge Full-HD touch screen on the other side. It’s way mobile than any other Chinese tablet. In short, the good side outshines the bad side making EZpad 6 a top choice.  It’s certainly something on which you can spend some bucks.

Where to Buy?
