Personally, I have already got my hands on three iTeknic headphones. And they all are amazing. Of course, in this niche, it’s quite difficult to create something new, and the manufacturers always have to rely on new technologies such as Bluetooth 5.0 and active noise canceling. But there is one thing that is always upon the headphone makers. That’s the design. This time, we are going to take a closer look at the iTeknic IK-BH005. This is another outstanding over-ear headset that not only comes with a unique and eye-catching design but also supports all the aforementioned features and more.
iTeknic IK-BH005 Appearance
When I got these headphones, I decided to conduct research in order to understand whether they look like top models. And though some ‘geeks’ have been claiming the iTeknic IT-BH005 looks similar to the Mindkoo BH02 and TaoTronics TT-BH046, there is nothing in common with these and other models. This product has a unique design and it really stands out. The shiny back of each earcup is truly amazing. And though we have seen something like this in the previous model, now they are silver that gives a more attractive look to the headset.
Due to the sleek, minimalist housings, and metallic hardware, these headphones can win the hearts of users at first sight.
The headphones come in an attractive fabric carrying case. Inside we will find a headset, a 3.5-millimeter auxiliary cable, airplane adaptor, charging cable, guide, and a padded carrying case.
There are also all necessary control buttons. Say, the right cup carries the volume rocker, an on/off/pairing button, a microphone, a 3.5-millimeter input, and the active noise cancelation switch, There are also LEDs used to signal a Bluetooth connection and confirm that ANC is activated. On the left cup, we can see the mini USB interface, which cup, is used when charging the iTeknic IT-BH005.
By the way, the microphone uses the cVc 6 (clear Voice capture) option, while the noise reduction algorithm reduces ambient sound and enhances the voice of the caller.
Like other models on the market, its earcups can swivel up to 90 degrees and pivot slightly to provide a comfortable fit. Both right and left arms adjust to conform to the size of the wearer’s head.
Our protagonist weighs in at 291 grams. So you can wear them for a long time, and they won’t cause any inconvenience. Due to the inclusion of ear cushions designed to cover the entire ear, makes use of passive noise resistance.
Performance and Endurance
At first glance, the iTeknic IT-BH005’s 30-hour battery life sounds rather good. In fact, all top models on the market such as the Sony WH-1000XM3 noise-canceling headphones provide an identical battery life. So those who want to find shortcomings on this model can pass by.
These headphones come with a 500mAh lithium battery. When listening to music the endurance time can reach up to 30 hours. But when calling, it will drop to 20 hours. However, this is a quite acceptable performance that we can get on a single charge. It’s also worth to mention the battery can be fully charged within 45 minutes.
As for actual measurements, after a three-day test period, this headset required charging after 29 hours (the volume was set at 69%). So we can say the official information is quite realistic.
Also, pairing with our smartphone was totally painless.
Active Noise Cancellation
Undoubtedly, the selling point of the iTeknic IT-BH005 is the active noise cancelation. Due to them, you can listen to your music in peace.
As you know, there are two types of noise-canceling systems. One of them, the passive noise reduction involves the use of materials in the ear cushions that deaden outside sounds. And though it’s very useful, the most effective packing materials are very dense. They add extra weight to the device.
Our protagonist comes with the so-called Hybrid Active Noise Canceling. When activated, the headset’s microphones monitor outside noises. After, it creates sound waves that mimic the incoming noise in every respect except one: the headphone’s output is 180 degrees out of phase with the intruding waves.
Moreover, the mic is usually located either outside the earcup (feedforward ANC) or inside the earcup (feedback ANC). As the name suggests (hybrid), the iTeknic IT-BH005 includes both types.
When testing, I found out that these headphones work great for canceling noise coming from airflow, fans, and engine noise. But there is a certain reason for that – these sounds are constant. So if the intrusion is sudden or varying, compensation will not prove adequate. But this is true when we don’t enable the active noise cancelation. Once done, it can negate the sound of the fridge’s compressor or furnace’s blower, the vacuum cleaner, or the air conditioner. You should also note active noise canceling is not ineffective at muffling human voice.
With 45mm transducers, these headphones are made to replicate the ‘balanced depth and precision of a studio recording’.
The iTeknic IT-BH005 headphones support Bluetooth 5.0 and codecs like aptX, AAC, and SBC, as well as aptX Low Latency. In other words, you shouldn’t experience connection dropouts or any annoying lag when watching videos with these headphones.
This headset is Bluetooth 5.0 capable but compatible with earlier versions. It paired with both my computer and MP3 player quickly and without complications. Due to the inclusion of a microphone, the headset can also be used with a smartphone.
Also, if you are now aware, the theoretical maximum distance for Bluetooth 5.0 is 240 meters. But if you pair it with devices that support the lower versions of Bluetooth, the range will be less.
In addition to a longer range, Bluetooth 5.0 also offers high bandwidth. This is ideal for devices that need to transmit larger packets of data, such as higher quality audio. Unfortunately, this technology doesn’t include a standard for audio transmission. But this doesn’t mean it improves the audio quality itself.
In terms of sheer sound quality, the iTeknic IT-BH005 headphones sound brilliant, with high levels of detail, warm bass, and natural-sounding highs. The active noise cancellation is also good. What we liked more is enhanced battery life. If its predecessor provides up to 20 hours, now, this one offers up to 30 hours. Shortly, this headset can compete with any top branded model. And this statement is true for all aspects, including design, materials, build quality, battery, noise cancelation, technologies, etc.
