The Infocus M512 comes in a standard cardboard packaging. The manufacturer provides everything you need to use the smartphone right from the box. A standard screen protector is not included in the packaging, which a minus point for the manufacturer, considering that almost every smartphone comes with it nowadays. Also, if you want to enjoy your favorite music with some privacy, you will have to buy your headphones since they are not included. As always, XiaomiToday is here for you:
Infocus M512 Packaging Contents:
1 x InFocus M512 Smartphone
1 x USB Cable
1 x Charger
1 x User Manual
The design of the M512 smartphone is the first thing to notice – we can say we got hooked up on the first look. The design is very appealing to the eye, and this smartphone doesn’t look cheap. The dimensions of the phone are 140 x 70 x 8 mm, and the weight is 158 grams. Infocus M512 is considered to be thinner than other releases in this price tag; you can put a safety case and still have a slim phone.
The back side is made of polished plastic, which is quite nice to the touch, and it will provide a good grip. On the back side, we can see the primary camera with LED Flash, and the brand logo beneath it. The speaker is positioned at the bottom right corner of the device. The impressions about the back side are beautiful and practical in means of handling the phone.
The top side is reserved for a standard 3.5 audio jack, and that’s about it. Many phones nowadays have a USB port next to the audio jack, but this is not the case with the Infocus M512.
On the right side of the phone, we can see the power lock/button placed at the top. This button positioning enables easier handling of the device.
The volume rockers are placed on the upper left side of the phone, and all you need to do to enjoy your favorite music is to power up the volume to the max.
We found a USB port on the bottom side, which enables wired connection with your computer and recharging of course.
Finally, on the front side, we can see the secondary camera placed in the upper right corner of the device. There are no capacitive buttons on the bottom of the front side. The Menu, Home, and Back buttons are incorporated into the touch screen, much like on the Nexus phone series.
The Infocus M512 will catch your attention at first look, and it will match your everyday life.
The screen size of the Infocus M512 is 5 inches, pretty much the standard on the smartphone market nowadays. IPS LCD technology is used production, and the resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels provides a 702p experience with a lot of natural and vivid colors. PPI index, which stands for pixel per square inch, is 294, and this is approximately 1.3 times sharper than other affordable releases. The brightness level is fair enough, and you won’t need to worry if you go out on a sunny day. The viewing angles are also decent, and the overall impression of the display is quite positive.
Performance & Storage
The Infocus M512 houses a Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8926 chipset. That is a great asset considering that this is an affordable model. The CPU is clocked at the speed of 1.2 GHz, which a bit below average considering the models in the same price range. Qualcomm Adreno 305 GPU is in charge of the graphics, a decent model. The device has 1GB of RAM, which is a bit below the standard nowadays. Stil we haven’t encountered stuttering or lags when multitasking, and gaming performance on mid-class android games in decent.
Internal storage capacity is 4GB, but if you find this a bit small, you can always expand your storage with a Micro SD card up to 32 GB.
The Infocus M512 packs a Dual-Camera setup, enabling selfies and video calls. The rear camera has an 8 MPX lens, good enough for capturing some high-quality photos. If you like taking selfies, or chatting with your friends on Skype, 2 MPX lens front camera is sufficient to provide you an excellent user experience. The primary camera can capture a 1080p high-definition quality, which is second best compared to more expensive models with 4K resolution.
The level of details on images is decent, and the aperture is capable of focusing quite snappy. The night performance is, as expected, not on par with day performance. Blur and noise are the main characteristics of images produced on night time. Still, the camera performance is satisfactory, considering the price of the device.

Operating System (OS)
Phones today usually run Android 5.0 version or higher, but the Infocus M512 runs on KitKat 4.4. The OS is enriched with InLife UI, a custom interface provided by the company. The system is stable, and performs quite well; you can download all the apps from Google Play Store with no problem. Still, we expect an update from the manufacturer to meet the market trends.
When it comes to connectivity, Infocus M512 is equipped with the standard USB port, enabling wired connection with other devices. Unfortunately, the phone doesn’t support a Dual-SIM card system, and this can be a downside for some users since many affordable models have that option nowadays. On the other hand, this phone brings the 4G LTE network connectivity, enabling fast download speeds.
- 2G – GSM 850MHz, GSM 900MHz, GSM 1800MHz, GSM 1900MHz
- 3G- WCDMA 850MHz, WCDMA 1900MHz, WCDMA 2100MHz
- 4G- FDD-LTE, Band 1, Band 3, Band 7, TD-LTE, Band 41(2545-2575), Band 40(2300-2400), Band
The Infocus M512 also packs a Bluetooth v4.0 for data sharing and pairing with your friends, and the Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) modem is there so you can enjoy every place where Wireless Internet is provided.
Infocus M512 is backed up by a 2500 mAh built-in battery and its standby time is approximately about 2-3 days (by the manufacturer. This statement might sound bold, but the thing is that people usually don’t perceive the difference between the usage and standby time. Standby time is the time when the device is on, but set aside and not functioning at all.
Infocus M512 can endure 9-10 hours of moderate usage (not even a full day), which equals around 3 hours of screen-on time. Not impressive for sure, but we must consider the price of this smartphone.
Pros & Cons
- 5.0 inch HD screen
- Elegant and ergonomic design
- 4G LTE network
- Doesn’t support Dual-SIM card system
In general, the Infocus M512 showed itself as a very firm device capable of enduring everyday usage. A standard user will find this model satisfying on every level. Quite decent for playing around and testing out some custom roms, and quality communication, as long as the battery endures. This is a great mid-range handset for an affordable price, and you will enjoy every moment while using the Infocus M512.
