a mid-tier Phone having 4G LTE. A Phone with a 64-bit Quad Core Processor for just 0 ( iNew U5 ).
Then dream no more. This month iNew under Chinese flagship launched their latest phone called iNew U5. After the success of previous model known as U3 and hopefully the new iNew U5 will also gain the same success.
So, we (Xiaomi Today) are here to enlighten you with the mid-tier specs and features of iNew U5.
We have categorized the specs & features of iNew U5 in the following:
Heading first towards the looks of iNew U5. The material used for the making iNew U5 back body is solely of metallic aluminium alloy. The dimensions of iNew U5 are 71.9 x 144.8 x 8.2 mm.
On the left side of the back of phone, the rear camera and a flashlight are located in a circular shape, looking similar to Apple iPhone series.
On the left side of iNew U5 is the volume and menu bar. Meanwhile, on the right side there’s no button present. Below the screen of iNew U5 are three touch based buttons. The center one is the home screen button, the left one is the menu and the right one is the back button.
The unique thing about iNew U5 is that the USB port, 3.5 mm audio jack and charging port, all are located on the upper side of the phone rather than the bottom side. So, you can easily use your phone while charging or connecting to another media.
The iNew U5 is available in three colors: Pearl White, Red, Grey.
iNew U5 smartphone has a 5.0-inch IPS LCD display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution (HD). The pixel per density of this phone is 294 ppi. It also supports multi-touch/capacative screen, supporting 5 fingers at a monemt.
For me the resolution is OK. But if you love color depth, deep detailed pictures and an excellent contrast, then by investing some more money you can buy high end phones like Meizu MX 4 & 5, OnePlus 1 & 2 and Xiaomi Mi4 etc.
It is powered with a 28 nm, 64-bit MediaTek MT6735 quad-core (1.0 GHz) processor based on Cortex A53 as well as Mali T720 GPU and 1 GB of RAM memory. The internal storage of iNew U5 is 16GB and supports storage expansion through microSD card.
I think that the specs are good for a mid-tier phone having a 64-bit processor. But they should have allocated more RAM about 2 GB, which is nowadays common in phones for that price.
Now comes the best part of iNew U5. iNew U5 also supports the newest network called 4G-LTE. U5 is compatible with FDD-LTE 800/900/1800/2100/2600MHz, W-CDMA 900/2100MHz and GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz networks. The device supports maximum download speed on 4G of 150 Mbps and maximum download speed on 4G of 50 Mbps due to the LTE Cat. The iNew U5 is a dual SIM smartphone, hence, users are able to insert two SIM cards into the device (micro SIM). with dual standby mode.
In addition to this, iNew U5 also connects via Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, USB OTG and a 3.5mm audio jack.
If you love to capture photos and make videos up to 720 Pixels and are not a professional who wants 4K or Full-HD videos, then you are at the right place. The iNew U5 has two cameras:
- Rear Camera: This camera is based on 8 Megapixels CMOS sensor with a LED Flash, for a better camera experience. It also supports Auto-focus, some camera effects, f/2.4 aperture and ISO mode.
- Front Camera: Like many phones, iNew U5 has a 2 Megapixels CMOS sensor camera, and believe me its gives a poor result while taking selfies. But it’s fine for that price,
(6) Battery & OS:
The new iNew U5 comes with a 2,300mAh Li-ion removable battery. Looking at the mid-tier specs, iNew U5 gives an average battery life of about 20 h on talk time, 12 h on music listening, 3 to 4 h on 4G-LTE and 6 h of video playing.
iNew U5 is running on Android 5.1 Lollipop version of operating system. This version of Android is a little bit modified by the manufacturers, making it more stable, simple and easy to use.

The other features of iNew U5 includes:
- FM radio
- Multiple sensors (Light, G-sensor, Proximity).
