Huawei Watch GT Active is a smartwatch presented in March 2019 together with the Huawei P30, P30 Pro and P30 Lite smartphones and the “brother” Huawei Watch GT Elegant. Compared to the latter, as it is easy to foresee from the name, it is a product more destined for sports use: many are however the features in common, especially from the hardware point of view. Huawei Watch GT Active features stainless steel body with a 1.39-inch AMOLED display, weighs 46g, GPS + GLONASS + Galileo and Bluetooth 4.2, 420mAh battery and it is waterproof.
Fortunately, Geekbuying is offering a price cut on this new Sports Smartwatch. Its price starts from $159.99. This promotion will last a few days or until the existence of existence. Do not lose this chance.
Huawei Watch GT Active can count on a 1.39-inch AMOLED display, more generous than the Elegant one; the resolution is higher (454 x 454 pixels), but the PPI are practically identical.
Onboard, we find GPS + GLONASS + Galileo and Bluetooth 4.2, accompanied by the same sensors as the other variant, namely that for heart rate, for brightness, accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, and barometer. The lack of Wi-Fi is also identical.
The compatibility of Huawei Watch GT Active is guaranteed for smartphones equipped with at least Android 4.4 KitKat or iOS 9.0. One of the biggest differences compared to Watch GT Elegant is the battery life: according to the manufacturer, the Active model has a practically double autonomy, equal to about 14 days of use (with about 90 minutes of pulse detection per week). The smartwatch is water-resistant up to 5 ATM.
Huawei Watch GT Active is available in two colors, green and orange, called Dark Green and Orange. These are more lively and less “classic” color variants than those of the Elegant but without the pearly effect. On the Active the dimensions of the case increase (from 46 mm instead of 42) and consequently the weight: 46.5 mm x 46.5 mm x 10.6 mm and about 46 grams (without strap).
The appearance, thanks to the colors and the “numerical” ring, is decidedly sportier than that of the more “classic” Elegant. Huawei Watch GT Active does not have Wear OS, but LiteOS: it is a proprietary system developed directly by the Chinese company, designed for greater energy efficiency.
One of the most interesting features is TruSeen 3.0 HR, which applies Artificial Intelligence to the heart rate monitor to improve the accuracy of the measurements; there is no lack of pedometer, calorie measurement and all the typical functions of smartwatches.
More specifically, fitness features are available, with many sports activities to choose from (including, for example, swimming, horse riding, hiking, and skiing). The Triathlon mode supports three different types of training: free swimming, cycling, and outdoor running.
TruSleep 2.0 also allows scientific monitoring of sleep, allowing users to check their progress and quality: the smartwatch can provide 200 suggestions to help improve it, based on real-time heart rate measurement, breathing, and big data analysis.
