It is appalling to see how far Chinese manufacturers are going to go to ensure that their mobile devices look similar to Apple’s iPhone lineup. While Ulefone Paris does bear a striking resemblance to an iPhone 6s, Goophone i6s has taken first place in completely ripping off the design of the smartphone.
Coming to the design, Goophone i6s looks like carbon copy of an iPhone, and the only thing that consumers will notice when distinguishing between the two smartphones is the prominent Apple logo that is present on the rear side of the device. Otherwise, the company has gone as far as to place a physical home button on the bottom center of the device. The company has also paid attention to tiny details and placed a circular metallic ring around this physical home button, which is the exact same thing that Apple does with its iPhones.
Coming to the specifications of the device, they are not exactly exciting enough to categorize Goophone i6s as a high-end smartphone. For starters, it sports MediaTek’s MT6592 chipset, which is running an octa-core processor at 1.7GHz. The source did not state which core type is present inside the handset. 1GB RAM and 8GB storage are also a part of the hardware, and a 4.7 inch screen that gives off a resolution of 1280 x 800.
Both cameras are not great enough for a consumer to end purchasing up Goophone i6s, since we know how well an 8MP rear camera performs with a 5MP front one. The battery present inside the smartphone is a small 1,800mAh and the update that is running on the smartphone is an outdated Android Jelly Bean 4.2 that is running a custom skin that strongly resembles the interface running on iPhones.
For a smartphone that strongly resembles the iPhone, the hardware is unimpressive. Let us hope that Goophone i6s comes out with a much more powerful version in the future.
