GameSir X1 BattleDock: The Ultimate Gadget to Improve Mobile Gaming

A new kid has arrived in the mobile accessory block, it’s called the GameSir X1 BattleDock. Wanna know what it is? Well, then keep on reading because you are in for a surprise. Games like PUBG and Fortnite are taking over the Android gaming scene and everyone who plays games these days is probably hooked to one or the other. But, people have noticed that the on-screen controls don’t allow them to be as quick as on a PC or console. Especially PUBG which lacks shortcut keys, and controls such as parachuting, object picking-up and aiming are not precise enough compared to a computer.

GameSir X1 BattleDock

And this is where the GameSir X1 BattleDock comes to play, It claims to make you an ultimate champ in Battle Royale titles on mobile and hopefully put you on par with PC gamers.

What the GameSir X1 BattleDock lets you do:

X1 BattleDock lets you hook up a keyboard and mouse to your Android or iOS device and (hopefully) give you some added advantage in games like PUBG Mobile and Fortnite.

You really have to be a mobile Jedi of sorts if you are planning to go head to head with a PC gamer. The keyboard and mouse combo is without a doubt a gamer’s ultimate weapon in taking anyone down. So basically, if you are to level the playground with your PC opponent, a keyboard, and mouse in the equation on both sides is a must for victory.

GameSir realizes this problem and has decided to take matters into its own hands by launching an accessory for Android and iOS users called the X1 BattleDock. The name, obviously, gives it partially away as it is a dock that holds your phone in place and gives it a good viewing angle if you are sitting in front of it. But there’s way more to it. It has a couple of USB ports as well allowing you to hook up your keyboard and mouse. This means that you can say goodbye to using on-screen controls entirely.

But wait, there more: it connects to your device via Bluetooth so you have one less cable to worry about. That’s not the complete story either as you’ll be surprised to learn that the BattleDock has a built-in 3000mAh battery so you can keep the party going even if you are out and about.

At this point you must be thinking: why do I need this? Of course, for a better aim. Download PUBG Mobile or Fortnite right now and you’ll know exactly what we’re trying to imply here. With the prowess of a mouse in hand, you have a far better chance to survive in an FPS title and get that chicken dinner or victory royale.

Packaging and Contents of the box:

Gone are the black/drab GameSir packages, because the X1 comes in comes in a lightweight cardboard box which has a refreshing blue and white color scheme. But the product was not well packaged which was a bit disappointing.

Containing the box is the X1 BattleDock itself, which frankly was a tad smaller than I expected it to be, but hey that’s a good thing because the small size makes it perfectly mobile and you could chuck it into any bag and you are good to go. Coming back to the point, also in the bag is a USB cable and a user manual. I found the instructions to be very simple and clear.

Design:

Coming to the design side of things, at first glance I thought that the GameSir X1 BattleDock was made of metal which slightly put me off because something of that size fully made of metal would be really hard to carry if you wanted to move around with it. But thankfully it was only an illusion of metal, actually the X1 gamepad is painted silver grey to give the impression of metal, but in reality, it is plastic, making it very light. It has a dimension of 5.31 x 4.02 x 1.22in. As a result, this is a very portable device. You can fit it into any bag of any size. Uniquely, it only weighs 0.61lbs.

This lightweight and collapsible design made it very easy to move around. The week I tested this out the GameSir X1 BattleDock, I was actually traveling with some friends and the easy portability made it exceptionally easy to put it inside my bag and carry it around. The bracket can be moved to allow you to place your phone or tablet into the grip. There are two screws allowing you to tighten it up when it is all connected. I found the group to be tight enough to hold the phone and tablet securely in place but at the same time not tight enough that I would worry about it damaging the phone.

The side of X1 has two USB connectors, allowing you to connect a keyboard and mouse. The USB 2 port can also be used for charging your phone if needed. There is a blue indicator to show if there is a disconnection (flashing) or if everything is connected ok (solid).

On the main body of GameSir X1 BattleDock, you will see 4 indicators for battery and a single button. The button is used to turn off and on the X1 and for pairing with your phone. There is also a Micro-USB port for powering the X1.

The GameSir X1 BattleDock connects via Bluetooth to your mobile device and there was no fuss when I tried connecting the two devices. The pairing was really easy to do. Its minimum requirement for compatibility is only Android 4.0 or IOS 7. I used the GameSir X1 BattleDock with my Samsung Galaxy S8. Therefore, this product allows the use of a keyboard and mouse on almost any mobile device. There are two USB slots on the side of the GameSir X1 BattleDock, one for the keyboard and the other for the mouse. As soon as you plug anything on the USB ports, it will automatically turn on.

There is no wall charger included in the package so you’re going to have to provide one on your own (this was somewhat of a disappointment). The  X1 BattleDock has a very durable feel to it. The side of X1 has two USB connectors, allowing you to connect a keyboard and mouse. The USB 2 port can also be used for charging your phone if needed.

Battery:

GameSir X1 BattleDock comes equipped with a 3000mah battery which I wasn’t really expecting from a device like this. A full charge lasted for 4 hours of play time. I found the company’s claim regarding the battery runtime to hold true for the most part. There were some occasions where the battery died out after 3 and a half hours but I don’t really know why that happened. It comes with 4 light indicators in front that tell battery charge. The lights also turned on when I plugged a device into the USB ports. It has a blue light on the side which indicates Bluetooth activity. If the light is blinking, it means it’s looking for a pair up. In addition, if the blue light is steady, it means it has successfully paired with a device.

Performance:

The  X1 BattleDock is not a magic gadget. It won’t make a mouse pointer suddenly appear on your screen. It uses its own platform that can detect its button remapping feature. As a result, it doesn’t work on all applications. You have to download the corresponding platform first, and then find the application you want through that platform.  Make sure you download the English version as there are Chinese versions of the games.

GameSir X1 BattleDock

The platforms are different if your IOS or Android. For IOS, the platform is called Happy Chick. For the android, the platform is called GameSir World App. This thing was somewhat of a letdown. I was hoping that there would only be one app compatible with all devices. It’s a bit of a hassle to download two different apps for the same device.

I had massive issues getting the app to work. I had to download the Gamesir World app, then enable USB-Debugging, Then open the app, and plug in the phone into the dock.

But the main issues I had with the app was that as there is another version of the app that is out, which isn’t on the Google Play. Then there is the fact that 50% of the app is translated into English and even then not translated well at all. All in it took around 45 minutes to get it all working.

Playing on a mobile device isn’t always easy. Controls are always going to be a challenge. Not to mention, speed and accuracy suffer most of the time. Using 4 fingers is hard especially on a mobile phone. Most of the time those fingers are always blocking your sight.

GameSir X1 BattleDock

The BattleDock works amazingly well in my opinion. Despite its wireless connectivity, I experienced virtually no lag. Thanks to its Bluetooth 4.0 feature, it works blazing fast. As a matter of fact, it runs very smooth and it’s very easy to connect to your device. Just point and shoot, and it delivers an almost PC like experience.

After setting it all up, everything ran extremely smoothly. In-game purchases caused some problems as I was running my game through a different platform.

When you start a game, floating buttons will appear. Click the gamepad icon to configure button settings for the keyboard and mouse.

GameSir X1 BattleDock-Final Verdict:

If you’re playing on a mobile device and you want to be competitive, I definitely recommend this product. Besides the fact that it has zero lag which is amazing, it is portable and very easy to use. Furthermore, it gives you a PC like experience on your mobile device that you’ve always wanted. From what I have gathered from gaming on this for a couple of days, there is zero to no lag on the X1. As soon as I spotted an enemy, I could move my mouse and click to shoot with no noticeable lag at all.

The X1 really does improve the overall gameplay of this kind of 1st/3rd person shooters.

No more excuses when playing on your mobile device. Give yourself the best chance to compete and win your games. All in all,  GameSir X1 Battledock is your best option, so you can play on your mobile device using a keyboard and mouse. You can purchase the device at a small price of $40.26.
