Furibee H9R: A mini companion to capture your best adventures in 4K

Conventional action cameras are usually not cheap. If you look at the catalog of some of the best-known brands, you will see that the prices reach several hundred dollars. Fortunately, there are other more affordable ones that offer a quality that matches our budget. A couple of days ago we thought that the ELECAM Explorer was the cheapest 4K action camera, but this is far from the truth. How do we know? For the protagonist of today, the Furibee H9R is also in the price range of the previous and offering very similar features.

Let’s be clear, this is not a high-end camera, because the maximum frame rate is only 25 fps while filming on 4K. Even so, this is something that cannot be discredited, especially if we put the price-performance ratio on a scale. It is a dream come true to be able to have a 4K action camera below $40.

It has a construction that resembles a GoPro, it is made of plastic, glass and other materials; on the outside, it has a rubber coating for a better grip. The only color available at the moment is black. In the back, there is a screen that occupies almost its entirety. On the other hand, in front, we will have the camera lens, a LED indicator, and the power/mode button.

At the top, we have the shutter button along with the power LED. Meanwhile, at the bottom, there is the battery compartment for easy insertion and removal. Moving to the sides, to the left we have the buttons to navigate through the menu and zoom, on the right side, you can find the ports.

As for the dimensions, the sports camera is almost the size of an average human palm. It occupies a space of 7 x 8 x 8cm, being much thinner than a standard action camera. It weighs 137g, equivalent to the weight of a 5-inch smartphone. Also, the camera comes with a waterproof case that grants it resistance to water and the possibility of submerging it up to 30 meters deep.

It has a small LCD screen on its back that occupies almost the entire surface. This panel measures 2.0 inches with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels, more than enough to determine in real time what is being captured or for watching the content stored in the internal memory. We emphasize that it is not tactile, but there are two physical buttons on its side that allow you to navigate through its interface.

Now, in the technical section, we have to talk about its processor Sunplus 6350, which is paired with a sensor of 12.0MP. The exact model is not mentioned but what is certain is that the brand is Omnivision. With some tweaks, you can take 4K videos at 25 fps but it manages to do an optimal job and with better results if it is recorded at 1080p or 720p.

Furibee H9R: Features

The objective of these devices is not only to carry a camera with you that does not occupy much space but also to have the necessary features for extreme activities. In this case, it not only favors water sports such as surfing, because the wide variety of mounting accessories that are included with the purchase extend its applications, you can use it for skiing, paragliding, mountaineering, cycling and much more.

The sensor used on this occasion has an amplitude of 170º, which means that it captures almost everything that is happening, while the combination with the processor contributes to an optimal quality in color and image definition. Of course, among the negative things to consider are: the audio recorded with the microphone is very low and there is no night vision mode.

Video

For 4K lovers, the results are achieved at a speed of 25fps, that is, sufficient for most activities. However, in case you do not need as much resolution or want maximum fluidity in high-speed sports, you can always record video on Full HD at 60 fps or even achieve 720p HD at 120 fps. All other video modes available are:

  • 1080P (30fps)
  • 1080p (60fps)
  • 2.5K (30fps)
  • 4K (25fps)
  • 720P (120fps)
  • 720 P (60fps)

Although many might argue that it is not a “true 4K” camera, the performance of the video recording will be good enough.

Photography

Regarding the photography mode, the 12.0MP camera will make excellent photos, but the performance will decrease as the brightness does. In addition, it is possible that the camera has problems adapting to changes in the intensity of light. The available modes are:

  • Image mode
  • Recording Modes
  • Timer (0.5-60 seconds)
  • Burst mode (5 to 10 images per second)
  • Cyclic mode

Furibee H9R: Connectivity and battery

Despite its affordability, there are also options for those who do not want to connect their Furibee H9R through a cable to the computer. The transfer of content can be achieved wirelessly by simply installing the official application of the brand that is available for Android and iOS phones.

Furibee H9R: Connectivity and battery

The name of the application is “iSmart DV“. It is good compared to other Chinese applications and is compatible with English. As if this were not enough, the Wi-Fi connection also works with a 2.4G remote control that is operational at a distance of 10 meters. So you will no longer need to be behind the camera to start recording, pausing or ending at the exact moment.

Furibee H9R: Connectivity and battery

Finally, we can not forget the 1050mAh lithium-ion battery that promises an autonomy of approximately 60 minutes of continuous recording in 4K. And this could be a little more as the resolution is reduced and/or disable the Wi-Fi connection, for example, its utility will be about 90 minutes in 1080P 60fps mode. For its part, the time to fully charge is at least 2 hours. As for the interfaces, we have the Micro-USB charging port, Micro HDMI, and an SD slot.

Furibee H9R: Accessories
