Elephone M3 follows trends in the design style. It combines the finest features of eastern and western companies. The phone is made out of the elegant aluminum body, and it has some resemblance to iPhone 6 and Huawei Mate line of products. M3 is very light for the phone of this size, but it does not come off as a cheap, low-budget phone. General appearance and build quality are up to standard.
The device brings significant improvements over the previous model, design and specs wise. The old square home button is replaced by more elegant capacitive one. Black stripes on the back of the M2 are removed, giving the device much smoother appearance. M3 fits nicely in the hand because of its rounded edges and with its length of 15 cm, it’s hard to use it with only one hand.
You can’t miss that gorgeous 2.5D rounded screen on the front of the device. Besides that, there is a capacitive button on the bottom of the front-facing camera and speaker next to proximity and light sensors above the screen.
On the back side of the phablet, there are impressive 21 Megapixel camera, dual-tone LED flash, and fingerprint scanner. In the middle of the back, you can find company logo engraved on the body of the phone. Speaking of camera, the lens is slightly protruded in a box-shaped housing. It doesn’t look very good considering the rest of the phone.
Speakers and micro USB Type-C port are on the bottom of the device. On the top, you can find 3.5 mm headphone jack.
The left side houses removable SIM port where you can put two micro SIM cards or micro SD card.
On the right side of the phone, there is standards set of volume and power/lock buttons.
There are several color options to choose from: gray, golden and rose gold. The two last color options were provided to us for reviewing purposes, and we can tell you that both are gorgeous.
Elephone M3 comes with fantastic capacitive 5.5-Inch 1080p IPS screen which has 401 PPI. Elephone decided to use 1080p display instead of 2160p (which is standard on flagship models this year). You can’t really tell the difference with the naked eye from hand distance, and 2160p is harder on battery life. Colors are vivid, and the screen is very bright and pleasant to look at. Viewing angles and contrast are excellent. Screen to body ratio is impressive at 85%, and the bezels on the phablet are very thin. Sunlight readability is near perfect. There is no screen protection against scratching or Gorilla Glass, so you’ll have to take extra care. But overall we are very pleased with what M3 provides display-wise.
Processor and RAM memory
M3 comes with high-performance MTK6755 ( Helio P10 ) 64-Bit Octa-Core 2.0GHz processor that is up for any task a modern smartphone user can have. The device runs very fluidly, and there is zero lag. It can get hotter from time to time, especially if you play high-end games. Speaking of games and graphically intensive tasks, Mali-T860MP2 GPU provides one of the best performances on the market today. You will get smooth gameplay and enjoyable experience with high framerate to sweeten the deal.
Elephone M3 comes in two variants. One has 2GB of RAM, and the other has 3GB. The later one is the one we used for our review. The device handles multitasking like a champ. With over a twenty apps opened in the background, it hasn’t slowed down a bit. You will even forget that you have apps running in the background. Considering its predecessor, Elephone M3 is significantly improved in the hardware department. It offers much better user experience.
Elephone M3 Camera
The new and improved Elephone M has a great camera system. The phone has Sony’s IMX230 21 Megapixel sensor with wide 2.0 aperture outstanding low-light shots. On the front, there is 8 Megapixel OV8848 sensor with 84-degrees wide angle for selfie shots.
The camera app is great and provides various options for all sort of users. There are standard options such as exposure, scene mode, white balance, face and smile detection. Other, non-standard options include anti-shake, voice capture, gesture shot, zero shutter delay, auto scene detection and anti-flickering mode. It’s the full package and will satisfy even the most demanding photography enthusiasts.
Camera quality is superb in every lighting situations. Thanks to its detection phase autofocus, you can capture every moment and have blurless photographs in a very short amount of time. Images have plenty of details and practically no noise. Colors are saturated, but that is the industry standard these days. Dynamic range and white balance are very good indeed. Low light shots are aided by dual-tone LED flash. It enables us to capture quality colors true to life.
Front facing camera offers similar performance in a good light while it struggles at low light situations a bit.
Video recording capabilities are not on par with the industry standards as competition offers 4K recording on their devices. This device is able to capture 1080p videos, and they are of decent quality. Elephone M3 doesn’t offer OIS but relies on a software stabilization which is not bad at all.
If you are in a market for a good camera phone, you won’t make a mistake buying the M3.

Elephone M3 Rose Gold Battery life
Elephone phones are known for their excellent battery life. M3 has 3000mAh lithium-ion battery, and it is on par with the industry leads. In our testing scenarios, battery performed admirably well. We were able to use the phone for two days straight with moderate usage. It included two mail sync accounts, a little bit of browsing, occasional phone call and SMS, few hours of listening to music and some Angry Birds. If you are a power user, you can be assured of at least a day of usage before putting the phone on the charger.

Overall, battery on this device is admirable.
Elephone M3 has plenty of other features. We will try our best to enlist them all to you.
The fingerprint scanner is one of them, and it’s unbelievably useful feature. You can use it to lock/unlock your phone and apps thus protecting your personal information. It can even be used to start up the camera, scrolling trough home screens, control videos, music and answer the calls. Fingerprint scanner works very well, and the phone unlocks amazingly fast.
Another useful feature we would like to mention is Turbo Download. It means that you can download files bigger than 20MB with Wi-Fi and LTE at the same time and achieve even faster download speeds.
Micro USB Type-C is supported. It brings faster transfer speeds.
The M3 has ambient light, gravity, Hall and proximity sensor, to name a few. It also has an accelerometer, compass, GPS support, USB OTG and many other useful features. Music listening on this device is excellent because of the high sound quality and bunch of supported codecs. It uses a professional power amplifier music chip, and the performance is slightly better than the M2.
