China continues to develop delivery technology through unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), commonly known as drones, Asian delivery companies continue to innovate their trade routes through the distribution of their products in a novel way that could soon become popular Worldwide.
A drone from the Dongguan Sail Express company made a successful delivery in the Chinese industrial city of Dongguan, in the Canton province.
Dongguan Sail Express represents the first successful delivery through a drone in the city, however, in China it has already been possible to demonstrate successful deliveries through unmanned aerial vehicles in other cities, as was the case of Ele.me, the online food order platform, which was already approved by the competent authorities of the city of Shanghai to make deliveries through this modality.
The first delivery with drones in Dongguan, a modality that is getting popular throughout China
For companies this means a breakthrough that will bring improvements in the profitability of their operations and lower operating expenses over time, because unmanned aerial vehicles will significantly reduce the delivery routes of human staff, it is estimated that even it would be talking about a reduction of up to 85% of the delivery routes for the staff of the delivery companies, this being a more than considerable advance and with which we could be witnessing the future of the delivery companies worldwide.
The reductions in operating expenses would not only be of benefit to the executives capable of investing in this modality but would also mean an increase in the income of the delivery staff of up to 500% according to estimates.
Cities like Shanghai are already experiencing tough competition on the delivery routes of drones from the hand of Ele.me against companies such as Alibaba or the sub-brand of food deliveries from Tencent, but what we know is that perhaps this modality is here to stay, and maybe it’s only a matter of time before seeing it in the West.
