There are so many players in the notebook manufacturing industry and many of these manufacturers are trying hard to make a name for themselves by unleashing devices with acceptable specs for very minimal amounts. It’s left for customers to take advantage of this competition but unfortunately, many users prefer to buy a product with a “name”. The honest truth is that purchasing a product from a “known” manufacturer is no guarantee that it will deliver just what you need. Daysky is not entirely new to laptop manufacturing as it has released a couple of products. However, we will be talking about the Daysky A3 notebook which is a 14.1-inch device that is powered by an Intel processor with 8GB of RAM. Interestingly, it comes for only $300.53 and if you really need to get a budget notebook, this is one product to strongly consider. Design & Appearance
The Daysky A3 Notebook comes with a premium appearance and its smooth silver color is quite matured. The time consuming anodizing aluminum process was used to forge its solid metal body to give it a smooth, delicate, and premium finish. Although the back cover is molded from plastic material for proper insulation. As a result of this design, the top surface is totally resistant to stains, rust or corrosion. The front fuselage comes with a very beautiful Daysky logo which takes the shape of a butterfly contained within a transparent shell. At the base of this laptop, there are four small and rounded pads at the four edges which are meant to raise the base of the laptop a little so as to create a space for heat to be dispersed through the cooling vents at the base. They also give the system stability and build a solid adherence between the bottom of the laptop and the surface on which it is placed thus it cannot easily slip off the table.
The Daysky A3 uses a 14.1-inch screen whose bezels are not the thinnest in the industry but its display is optimized. The bottom bezel is thicker because it contains the Daysky logo while all other sides appear to be of the same thickness although the top bezel contains a webcam. Daysky A3 notebook has a 14.1-inch Full HD LED screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and an aspect ratio of 16:9 which provides a wide viewing angle with a better color performance. This screen combines a high purity LED backlighting and produces blockbuster images for your viewing pleasure. The notebook screen can flex up to 180 degrees which differs from many laptops in the market today that can go 160-degrees at best. This means that the Daysky A3 notebook can be flat like a slate.
Keyboard & Speakers
This is one of the most attractive parts of this device. It comes with a very delicate keyboard design as the palm rests on a very smooth surface during usage. With a perfect key gap spacing, users are certain that typing will be seamless as there will no room for pressing two keys simultaneously as we have seen in many other products. In addition, these keys are never stiff and they produce a rapid rebound and swift feedback while typing. The touchpad is smooth, precise, delicate and it offers an exceptional experience. On the rear, two speakers are arranged systematically arranged in order to maximize the sound effect. These speakers are just beside the seemingly large battery cover on both the right and left side.
Interface Configuration & Portability
The Daysky A3 has something to be very proud of and that is its thinness. It is about 9mm thin – a size that is quite rare in modern day notebooks. Despite its flatness, it packs a whole lot of interfaces despite its thinness for a seamless operation. On the left side, it has a power interface, 1 x USB 2.0, an earphone port and an RJ45 interface. On the right, you get an SD card slot, another USB 2.0 port, and an HDMI output. You can connect the device to an HDTV or high-definition monitor to set up two screens side by side or just to enlarge pictures using the HDMI output. This laptop has a net weight of 1.5 kg and a travel weight of 1.8 kg which is a familiar weight of a 14.1-inch laptop.
Hardware & Performance
Interestingly, the Daysky A3 is powered by an Intel Celeron J3455 processor coupled with a 128GB solid-state hard drive + 1TB HDD. This is an ultra-low-voltage platform with quad-core processing clocking 1.5GHz up to 2.3GHz and it provides maximum high-efficiency power. It is built using a 14nm process and while this may seem a little outdated considering the fact that we now have 10nm and 12nm processors and many are expecting the 7nm processor processors, for a price of less than $350, this is more than adequate. The graphics of this notebook is handled by an Intel HD Graphics 500 GPU for better and faster multitasking, gaming and video time. This processor is supported by 8GB of RAM which in all honesty, is top-notch and can seamlessly guarantee a fluent operation of this notebook. Its substantial high-bandwidth RAM smoothly runs your games, photos and video-editing applications.
In regards to the operating system, the Daysky A3 notebook comes with pre-installed Microsoft Windows 10 OS which offers a powerful performance and a smooth/wonderful user experience. This is about the best operating system that you can find in a notebook thus you don’t have to worry about its operability.
The Daysky A3 notebook comes with a 7.4V / 4000mAh, Li-ion polymer battery. It takes about 2 hours to fully charge the laptop and it will work for about 3 to 4 hours. To test the battery performance, we used a power balanced mode, set the notebook brightness at 50%, volume at 10%. In addition, all background apps were turned off and a continuous video playback on 1080P was initiated. After an hour, we had a total of 27% power consumption and this suggests that a continuous playback of high-definition video on this laptop can reach 3 – 4 hours easily.
Well, the Daysky A3 notebook may not be the most popular of products bu looking honestly at its specifications and pricing, it is worth a shot. It has a premium design which combines metal and plastic build. It is also quite light and super thin thus it can be carried around seamlessly. Coming to the hardware, its combination of an Intel Celeron J3455 processor coupled with a 128GB solid-state hard drive, 1TB HDD, 8GB of RAM and an Intel HD Graphics 500 GPU ensures that you get a perfect operability all for about $329.99. The Daysky A3 notebook can last for at 3 – 4 hours on videos and over 4 hours of normal usage thus this is not that bad.
