Xiaomi Launches Ciga Design Mechanical Watch at 899 Yuan

In November 2017, Xiaomi released a square-framed Ciga Design Mechanical Watch. But people are more tend to wear circle-shaped watches. So the manufacturer has decided to come with a corresponding product. Today, it announced the new Ciga Design Mechanical Watch at a price tag of 899 yuan ($142), which is 100 yuan more than its square-face variant.

Ciga Design Mechanical Watch

The new Ciga Design Mechanical Watch has been designed by Hong-Kong-based Michael Young. It has already managed to win a German IF Design award. The IF jury was not stingy in its praise:

This watch takes a holistic approach to design, signifying a new interpretation of a classic masterpiece. Appealing sensory details such as a visible movement and a tactile crown winder will delight the user, while the curved face lends a softness to the appearance. Michael Young has succeeded in imparting this watch with a unique experience.

Due to its large back-through hollow design, the Ciga Design Mechanical Watch’s movement is at a glance. The diameter of the chassis is 45mm, the thickness is 12mm, while the length is 242mm. It’s made of selected 316L steel. The watch uses 22mm straps. On the top, it carries a 1.3mm sapphire glass, which comes just after diamond on the hardness scale.

Inside, the Ciga Design Mechanical Watch uses a Seagull AAA custom ST2551JK movement with an energy storage of 30-40 hours and a frequency of 21600 times/hour. The number of jewels is 25. And the movement error is -15~+30 seconds/24 hours.

The wristband is made of stainless steel mesh belt, and it provides two kinds of color matching: black stone and silver, but you can also purchase genuine leather bands if you wish.

This product is launched in the frame of a crowdfunding program, but it has already crossed its crowd-funding goal and is expected to start shipping on May 31.
