Chuwi is a relatively young but already quite famous tablet and laptop manufacturer, well-known and praised for its ability to pack in high-tech modern features into beautiful designs — and at very budget-friendly prices. Today, we take a look at one of the company’s latest releases: the Chuwi Hi 9 Air 4G tablet PC.
Chuwi Hi 9 Air 4G tablet PC: design
The first thing of note about the Chuwi Hi 9 Air is that it’s quite a giant: the tablet measures 24.17 x 17.20 x 0.79 cm and weighs 550 grams. The large frame makes it possible for the Hi 9 Air to securely host a beautiful 10.1 inch screen and a large battery pack. So, if you do appreciate the ability to enjoy your media with no constraints and the battery power to back up all that YouTube binging and gaming, the Hi 9 Air won’t leave you disappointed.
The downside? You’ve guessed it: portability. There is nothing miniature about the Hi 9 Air — it’s a plus-size tablet and proud to be one.
Chuwi Hi 9 Air 4G tablet PC: display
Coming back to the screen. The expansive 10.1 inch display is one of the tablet’s key selling points — but there is also the full HD resolution of 2560 x 1600 (WQXGA), image ratio of 16:10, all of which make the tablet an excellent media and gaming platform. The Chuwi Hi9 Air also incorporates the OGS (One Glass Solution) full lamination technology, which offers enhanced protection against scratches and other forms of damage to the screen.
Another thing of note is that the LCD screen and the touch screen have been placed together with an almost zero gap to improve the brightness and clarity of the display by reducing air refraction. The feature has also reduced bulk in the Hi 9 Air’s body — and this is why you can easily handle the giant tablet with one hand.
Chuwi Hi 9 Air 4G tablet PC: hardware
The Chuwi Hi 9 Air comes with 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB eMMC ROM enabling you smoothly run your game, photos and video-editing applications. You also have the SD card slot for expanding the storage to up to 128GB (not included). Easily expandable storage is another feature that makes the Hi 9 Air the perfect media device — you get plenty of space for your photos, music, games, and a variety of apps. The tablet is powered by the MTK6797 (Helio X20) Deca Core processor and uses the ARM Mali-T880 780MHz GPU. Paired with a super large 8,000mAh battery, the Hi 9 Air’s strong feature mix puts the user experience with the tablet on par with that of a laptop. But there’s more.
The main upgrade on the Chuwi Hi 9 Air 4G is right there in the name — you get a SIM card slot with 4G network support and that means blazing web speeds on the go without the need to hunt for Wi-Fi. This definitely adds a whole bunch of convenience points to the new model — and places it in a different price category as well.
Chuwi Hi 9 Air 4G tablet PC: software and cameras
The Chuwi Hi 9 Air runs on Android 8.0 – the latest version of the familiar operating system guaranteeing a friendly interface, smooth performance and access to all the latest apps and games on the Play Store.
On the camera side, you get a 13MP back cam and a 5MP selfie shooter. The rear cam sports cool features like autofocus, digital exposure, geo-tagging, and uninterrupted shooting. Plus, it comes equipped with an LED light for clear fuzz-less photos in low light.
