Back in November 2017, Chuwi launched an interesting product via crowdfunding. Actually, this is a common practice for the Shenzhen-based manufacturer. A few of its latest products raised more than a million dollars. Something identical happened with the newest 2-in-1 tablet PC dubbed as the Chuwi CoreBook. It’s been compared with several top-branded products such as the iPad Pro, Eve V, and the Surface Pro 4. Of course, it’s been considered the cheaper variant of the mentioned models. Actually, it is. At this moment, this amazing convertible tablet is available at a discounted price tag of $519.00 after applying the coupon (code: IT$TACORE).
Generally, Chuwi, established in 2004, has been making waves with their tablets and personal laptops in the tech community. No one will argue if we say its devices have earned a reputation for being on par with some of the top tablet brands while offering more affordable hardware combinations. However, while the Chuwi products have always been a great bang-for-your-buck value, they couldn’t be considered as the best-looking devices. As for the CoreBook, everything changes.
Chuwi CoreBook Design
Say, the Chuwi LapBook 12.3 is an excellent mid-range laptop. But the device had thick bezels around the screen and somewhat mushy keys. Another case, the Chuwi SurBook is thicker than most tablets and has a felt keyboard cover that attracts dust and lint easily. In this sense, our protagonist looks very sleek, with rounded chamfered edges, unlike the blocky and thick SurBook. Seems the bezels have been shaved down from older Chuwi devices.
Even the keyboard cover case is looking more elegant than previous models. It features fully covered keys. So we can say this is a move forward from the individual keys of the SurBook. Moreover, the manufacturer has also done away the hinge of previous devices, has designed a keyboard with a bracket that can be adjusted to 165 degrees.
The CoreBook comes with a 13.3-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The brightness is measured at 350 nits. The latter may seem quite low. But thanks to it the battery provides up to 8 hours of life. By the way, the CoreBook comes with 12V / 3 amp quick charging which will let top up quickly on the go. The front panel is also covered with a 2.5D glass. This model has an 82% screen ratio, which helps contribute to its lightweight form factor. A fingerprint sensor is located below the screen. Thus we are dealing with the first Chuwi device to pack a fingerprint reader for password-free login. On the opposite side, we can find a 2MP camera. But it can be used for video calls only, as this snapper supports 720p resolution images.
As for the Chwu CoreBook’s body, it’s made out of aluminum alloy. Moreover, there is an acceptable number of connectivity options, including a micro USB port, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, SD card slot, as well as a USB 3.0 Type C port.
Chuwi CoreBook Hardware
This 2-in-1 laptop is using an Intel Core M3 7Y30 processor, which is the most powerful chipset the company has used in any of its products yet. Though it’s just a Core M, it supports hyperthreading and is backed by an 8GB LPDDR3 RAM. Generally, it’s a low-frequency SoC clocked at 1GHz. But the chip maximizes the life due to it. In all those cases, when you need the power, there is a turbo-boost mode which clocks the processor up to 2.6GHz. Apart from this, this SoC integrates Intel HD Graphics 615, which is capable of basic photo editing, video editing, and handling older games remarkably well.
Why Buy Chuwi CoreBook?
Due to the increasing prices of PC components, the desktop PCs market shows worse performance year by year. On the contrary, the demand for ultra-portable laptop-tablet hybrids is growing. In this sense, people who want the power and capabilities of the Microsoft Surface Pro but aren’t willing to pay much can get their hands on the more affordable CoreBook. The latter is an ideal offer for those who want a portable device running on Windows 10. Or, this tablet is for those are looking for an upgrade for their old laptop without the need to spend an unholy amount of money.
