Blackview BV9000 Pro: Design and Build

Blackview BV9000 Pro

Despite being a bulky and heavy smartphone (with 13.4 mm thickness and 253 grams weight), the Blackview BV9000 Pro manages to sport a design that reeks beauty and makes you want it at the first glance.

The Blackview BV9000 Pro is an upgrade to the Blackview BV9000 and the Chinese OEM paints the device as the first rugged smartphone to feature a 18:9 aspect ratio and the IP68 certification.

Just like many other rugged smartphones, the BV9000 Pro’s IP68 certification confers resistance against water, dust and shock upon the device. For reiteration purpose, IP68 certification means a device is safe and not prone to any harm for 30 minutes when exposed to water as deep as 1.5 meters.

This puts the device in the perfect position to be taking on adventures like swimming, camping, canoeing, kayaking, hydro-biking, sailing and other activities that deal with water. The device is also safe to use in the shower, while washing dishes, and even know the rain.

Blackview BV9000 Pro: Tough Phone, Tough Display

Blackview BV9000 Pro

Being a rugged phone, the Blackview BV9000 Pro comes with a complementary rugged screen. The screen is an HD+ display and is sized 5.7 inches. With a screen-to-body ratio of 63%, the IPS capacitive touchscreen is accompanied by a great deals of bezels surrounding it.

The screen is scratch resistant and enjoys the latest version of Corning’s screen protection; the Corning Gorilla Glass 5. This protection mechanism helps keep the screen intact whenever it goes against hard or rocky surfaces. So, be it at work, or on an adventurous journey or travel, be sure your screen is always protected against shattering or cracking even without an external shattered glass.

The Blackview BV9000 Pro’s display has a pixel density of 282 pixel per inch. Though not high, it will still manage to produce sharp and bright images.

Camera

The Blackview BV9000 Pro shares a similar characteristic with another premium rugged smartphone, the AGM X2. The common feature both devices have is the dual camera set-up on the rear. You can check the full review of the AGM X2 HERE to see the camera quality of the device.

Blackview BV9000 Pro

The BV9000 Pro on review has a primary lens of 13-megapixels and a supporting 5-megapixels secondary lens. To the right side of the dual lenses are two (dual) LED flash lights which both brighten up whatever subject is up for capturing. These flash lights are particularly useful in conditions of low light; for example, at night parties.

The front camera (8-megapixels) put in place for selfies would shoot images of moderate qualities but sadly, it lacks any LED flash and may perform poorly under low light.

Hardware and Performance

Blackview BV9000

One of MediaTek’s latest System-on-Chip was used on the Blackview BV9000 Pro smartphone. The SoC is the MediaTek Helio P25 (MT6757CD) 64-bit Processor. The processor has 8 Cortex-A53 cores and 4 of the cores runs at an incredibly fast speed of 2.3GHz while the remaining four run at a clock speed of 1.6GHz.
