Last year in August, Asus launched the Deluxe edition of Asus Zenfone 2. Now, at the end of January, the manufacturer is going to provide a Special Edition of this terminal. Although, the company mainly focus on the computer category but this doesn’t mean that they won’t push their mobile phone section. That push seems to be in this new edition of Asus Zenfone 2. Re-lighting the past: Asus Zenfone 2 Deluxe
From the gloomy memory of the past, Asus Zenfone 2 Deluxe was different from the original model by the inclusion of the housing striking diamond back cover. We also want you to remember the use of 5.5 inch, Full-HD screen with Gorilla Glass Protection 3. And of course, how could we forget the Intel Atom SoC, which could be chosen in two configuration : Atom Z3560 + 3GB RAM or Intel Z3580 + 4GB RAM , being this last version, one of the first devices market include 4 GB of RAM.
Apart from this, everything else of the deluxe edition was similar to the original Asus Zenfone 2.
Asus Zenfone 2 Deluxe Special Edition: What has changed?
The new Asus Zenfone 2 Deluxe Special Edition is a much different and improved terminal from the previous ancestors. Some hardware enhancement has been done, to at least justify it as a special edition. On one hand, we have a surprising and more powerful SoC, meet the new Intel Atom Z3590 reaching a frequency up to 2.50 GHz turbo mode, compared with the old 2.33 GHz Intel Z3580 processor.
On the other hand, the main selling point of this phone is the storage available. The special edition has a marvelous and massive space of about 128 GB (Internal), but that’s not all as the space can be extended to 128 GB more via a Micro SD card. So we have a total capacity of 256 GB, which is enough to store and enjoy large applications on the phone. Moreover, a new GPU has been introduced in the hardware, PowerVR G6430 running at 640 MHz along with 4 GB of RAM.
Other features of the terminal remains unchanged. This includes a 13 MP rear camera with dual LED and the 5 MP front camera. The battery is still non-removable and of the same capacity 3000 mAh, backed by fast charging technology BoostMaster. Its dimensions are 152.5 x 77.2 x 10.9 mm and weighs 170 grams.
Sadly, Asus Zenfone 2 Deluxe Special Edition runs on the old Android Lollipop (v 5.0), not even v 5.1. We hope that an update to Android Marshmallow will arrive soon. The phone will available in two striking and unique backshells: Kelvar and other is the old familiar silver diamond effect. We have to wait a little bit for it’s availability across the world. Will it create the same magnificent impress as the previous two terminals did? Let’s see.
