Xiaomi is soon going to launch the successors to the Redmi 5, and Redmi 5 Plus as some new devices have made it to TENAA with a pretty odd design than what we have seen in the previous budget Xiaomi device. A few days back, a Xiaomi device with the codename M1804C3DE appeared on TENAA with a 3,000mAh battery under the hood and today; another phone was spotted on TENAA with codename M1805D1SE. We are expecting that the former is Redmi 6 while the latter is the Xiaomi Redmi 6 Plus. If it is so, then both the devices are coming with a notched display having huge bezels on the side and the bottom.
As the images above reveal, the Xiaomi Redmi 6 Plus (or whatever it is going to be called) has a notch on top so, Xiaomi is bringing the notch design to its budget phones as well. It is worth mentioning that there is no Xiaomi device at the moment with a notch design and the Xiaomi Mi 8 is launching on May 31 with a notch on top of the display. Anyways, coming back to the Redmi 6 Plus, it has on-screen buttons, so the bottom bezel is empty (poor use of space!). The bezels aren’t that thin on the sides too.
Alleged Xiaomi Redmi 6 Plus appears on TENAA
On the rear, the phone has a dual camera setup, with the design similar to the Redmi Note 5. The fingerprint scanner is also present on the rear and looks like the back is made up of metal, except for the top and bottom, where the phone has plastic.
The volume rockers are present on the right side along with the power button, and the SIM card tray is on the left. We aren’t sure if the SIM card tray is going to be a hybrid one or a triple slot tray. It will be better to have the latter.
Coming to the specifications now, the Xiaomi Redmi 6 Plus has a 5.84-inch 19:9 TFT Full-HD+ display with a resolution of 2280×1080, thanks to the notch on top. The device is powered by an unknown 2.0GHz octa-core chipset which we suspect to be either the Snapdragon 625 or the Helio P60. Under the hood, there is a 4,000AmAh battery, and Android 8.1.0 Oreo runs out of the box with MIUI skin on top. There are three RAM options – 2GB, 3GB, and 4GB & the memory options are 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. There is also support for memory expansion up to 256GB.
There is a dual rear camera setup that includes a primary 12MP camera and a secondary 5MP camera. The phone isn’t too thin as the dimensions are 149.33×71.68×8.75 (mm). It weighs around 178 grams. There are plenty of color options including Black, rose gold, gold, white, blue, red, pink, gray, & silver.
