In your pocket, you practically don’t feel it; it’s like having a standard USB stick. This external drive is therefore aimed at those who need an extremely portable, small, and light hard disk! resistant thanks to the rubber cover, and very fast.
The Sabrent drive is wrapped in a silicone case that protects against accidental drops and dust! making it sturdier and more durable. The case has a sleek black finish that gives the drive a professional look. At the top of the case, there is a cutout that allows the Sabrent branding to be visible on the unit itself. Additionally, cutouts on both sides of the case facilitate effective heat transfer or ventilation to prevent drive overheating. These features make the Sabrent drive reliable, functional, and aesthetically pleasing.
Now that we’ve removed the case let’s look at the Nano V2. Sabrent used a CNC-machined space-grade aluminum alloy for the drive bay. This material allows for better heat transfer and is durable. Sabrent branding is visible at the top. A white LED indicator on the bottom right shows drive activity. On the back, It has the unit’s model, size, and serial number.
The metallic body of the unit provides a high ability to disperse the internal heat during violent use to keep the temperature under control in conditions of good ventilation and heavy uses. The SSD becomes moderately hot with frequent use. The SSD supports operation On a massive number of platforms, starting from the personal computer on the Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms, passing through Android smartphones and gaming Consoles such as PlayStation 4, 5, Xbox Series X|S, and previous versions, while benefiting from a speed of 1500 MB/s for reading and writing on USB 3.2 Gen 2×2, which is widely available even in gaming platforms.

Overall, the Rocket Nano V2’s compatibility with USB-C mobile devices enhances its usability and makes it a practical choice for those who require easy file transfer capabilities.
The Rocket Nano V2 comes pre-formatted with exFAT. However, we formatted it to NTFS during our testing to ensure optimal performance.
We tested the Sabrent Rocket Nano V2 with several Benchmark Software to test the speed of this Portable SSD. The tests were aimed at determining the device’s read and write speeds and overall performance. We used tools such as CrystalDiskMark, ATTO Disk Benchmark, and AS SSD Benchmark to conduct the tests. These benchmarking tools allowed us to measure the device’s sequential read and write speeds and its random read and write speeds. The Sabrent Rocket Nano V2 proved to be a high-performing portable SSD, delivering impressive speeds across all the tests.
First, test it with CrystalDiskMark, the most commonly used test software. This software is designed to measure the read-and-write performance of a device by sampling random data. The data sample used in this test is mostly incompressible, and the performance remains virtually identical regardless of the sample. As a result, only the results obtained using random data samples have been included in this test. The sequential read and write speeds of the Nano V2 are about 1669MB/s and 1558MB/s, respectively! which are higher than the officially announced values. This result is much higher than the hard disk with my handheld.
We used the ATTO Disk Benchmark software to determine that the final continuous read and write speed is 1.69GB/s and 1.82GB/s. ATTO Disk Benchmark has been around for a long time and is considered the industry standard for measuring performance specifications. This benchmark uses RAW or compressible data, and in our specific case! we ran tests on 256MB sets while examining both read and write performance across various transfer sizes that ranged from 0.5 to 8192kb. Manufacturers prefer this testing method since it utilizes raw or compressible data instead of random data! which is more realistic but often results in lower performance readings.
The Nano V2’s performance has been tested in the AS SSD Benchmark test, and the results are impressive. The maximum sequential read speed of the device is 937.95MB/s, indicating that it can read large files quickly. The maximum sequential write speed of 920.37MB/s also showcases its ability to write files rapidly. Additionally, the Nano V2’s overall score of 927 points is a testament to its strong performance. These results suggest that the Nano V2 is a reliable and efficient device that can easily handle demanding tasks. Overall, the Nano V2’s AS SSD Benchmark test performance is commendable and proves its worth in the market.
What surprised me the most was the temperature control ability of this Portable SSD. After mounting it for 3 hours and adding several rounds of tests, I tested its temperature. The internal temperature was about 60°C, and the external temperature was up to 42°C. Only the front end feels warm to the touch. Compared with other high-speed Portable SSDs that are hot after use! the temperature control performance of Rocket Nano V2 is excellent.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the Sabrent Rocket Nano V2 Portable SSD is a highly efficient and portable external storage device that provides excellent value for money. It offers impressive speed and capacity, making it an excellent choice for users who require fast and large external storage. The sleek black color, compact size, and sturdy aluminum case make it an aesthetically pleasing device that is both durable and reliable. The Sabrent Rocket Nano V2 also comes with a silicone case that protects the device against accidental drops and dust! making it a great option for users who are always on the go. With the ability to support various platforms and gaming consoles, the Sabrent Rocket Nano V2 Portable SSD is a versatile and efficient external storage device that is definitely worth considering.
