Sabrent Rocket V90 512GB and SD/MicroSD UHS-II Card Reader Review
Sabrent is a highly innovative company that has achieved a series of firsts in its short but intense career, including the first 8 TB SSD, the first 4 TB Gen4 SSD, and even the first Gen4 with up to 8 TB. As evidence of its ever-increasing presence in devices capable of reading SDXC-type memory cards, it is no surprise that Sabrent has entered the world of memory cards. Currently, Sabrent offers a somewhat limited range of memory cards, consisting of two versions of SD cards: the Rocket V90 and Rocket V60, one version of microSD cards, and two versions of CFX memory cards. The Rocket series is the primary production of SD cards, with storage capacities ranging from 64 GB to 512 GB in the V90 version and 1 TB in the V60 version. It’s worth noting that all of these memory cards are classified as SDXC memory cards.
The Rocket V90 memory card is compatible with the UHS-II system and is classified as a V90 recording speed for video files. This classification implies that the minimum data transfer rate is 90 MB/sec, which is different from the speed of reading and writing. Sabrent’s V90 and V60 SD memory cards offer broad compatibility with electronic devices, providing a compact solution for storing vast amounts of data. These memory cards are commonly used with digital cameras, game consoles, home theater devices, and Blu-ray players. MicroSD cards of the smallest size are also utilized by surveillance cameras and smartphones.
We currently testing the Sabrent Rocket V90 SDXC UHS-II 512GB Memory Card, a product that boasts exceptional specifications. This card features impressive read speeds of 280 MB/s and writes speeds of 250 MB/s, with V90 certification across all models in the line. Notably, the 512GB version is the first SDXC memory card of its size to achieve such impressive speeds.

Memory Card
When it comes to the design of these memory cards, there are a few key features to note. First and foremost, the main information is located on the front sticker of the card. This includes the capacity of the card, and the supported standards! and the reading and writing speeds that the card is capable of achieving. It’s worth noting that these speeds are only achievable when the card is connected to a PC equipped with a UHS-II card reader.
Moving to the back of the card, there is a double row of contacts that is typical of UHS-II cards. These contacts allow the card to communicate with other devices and transfer data quickly and efficiently. Additionally, there are some laser serigraphs on the back of the card. These serigraphs bear the product number and serial number for each individual card. These numbers can be useful for keeping track of multiple cards and ensuring that each one is being used in the correct device.
Overall, the design of these memory cards is optimized for fast data transfer and easy identification. The front sticker provides all of the key information that users need to know! while the back of the card includes the necessary contacts and identification information. Performance
Memory Card
In this review, a new methodology has been introduced for portable storage units and memory cards! That utilizes only two benchmarks to accurately analyze the performance of the tested storage units. The focus of the testing was on USB sticks, SSDs, and external HDDs, as well as memory cards. The testing began with the reading and writing speed of the memory card being analyzed using a memory card reader from Sabrent in the well-known CrystalDiskMark benchmark.
The result obtained from the CrystalDiskMark test showed that the memory card achieved a read speed of 264 MB/s and a write speed of 266 MB/s! Indicating that it was a high-performing storage device. This new methodology for benchmarking storage aims to provide a simpler and more efficient means of measuring performance and comparing different storage devices. Using only two benchmarks streamlines the benchmarking process and makes it easier for consumers to choose the suitable storage device for their needs.
The Blackmagic Disk Speed Test is a benchmarking tool for measuring storage devices’ read and write speed! such as hard drives or solid-state drives (SSDs). The test was run on the Sabrent Rocket V90 storage device in this case! and the results obtained were 223 MB/s for read speed and 180 MB/s for write speed. These results indicate that the Rocket V90 has a relatively high level of performance! when it comes to transferring data to and from the storage device.
A faster read speed can mean quicker access to stored data! which can be especially important in specific applications such as video editing! where large files need to be quickly accessed and processed. Similarly, a faster write speed can mean faster data transfer rates! which can be useful for activities such as backing up large amounts of data.
Card Reader
The SABRENT USB Type-C SD/MicroSD UHS-II Card reader boasts impressive transfer speeds! that match the theoretical rates of the UHS-II card format. Upon testing, the results were instantly outstanding! as a Sabrent UHS-II card popped in and achieved a read of 264MB/s and a write of 266MB/s. This result is not bad and is the fastest ever seen from an external SD card reader! Even marginally beating the MacBook Pro’s built-in reader.
The Type-C connection reliability is also good, as copying 114GB of data from the internal hard drive only took nine minutes; it’s impressive. This card reader’s speed is far greater than other SD card readers used and unlocks the full potential of the cards and machines. The faster the transfer rate when dealing with high-resolution image files and video! The better, and this card reader provides this certainly.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Sabrent’s entry into the memory card market with its Rocket V90 is a testament to its commitment to innovation and quality. The Sabrent Rocket V90 SDXC UHS-II memory card and USB Type-C Card Reader are impressive products that offer exceptional performance and reliable data transfer.
