Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 series officially launched and available now

The Redmi Note 11 and Redmi Note 11 Pro have just been officially launched in China. A look into the Middle Kingdom shows us what we can look forward to in this country. Even three devices were presented, but the Note 11 Pro + only differs from the normal Pro model in terms of battery size and charging speed. So let’s take a closer look at the Redmi Note 11 (5G) and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro in this article.

According to its information, Xiaomi had already sold 120,000 Redmi Note 11 smartphones at the time of the presentation. These were simply blindly pre-ordered by Chinese customers. With additional offers on November 11th, they want to break all records that the previous Redmi Note series have already set.

Specs of Xiaomi Redmi Note 11:

The difference between the two Redmi Note 11 smartphones can be seen on the data sheet. The devices also differ more visually than ever. In the smallest memory version, there is also a large price difference of € 80 between the smartphones. The Redmi Note 11 5G is optically based on its predecessors and the Redmi Note 11 Pro gets a new angular design.

To avoid misunderstandings, we will only talk about the Redmi Note 11 and Redmi Note 11 Pro in the article. The Pro + version has a smaller battery with 4500-mAh, but can be charged with 120 watts – there are no other differences. The smaller battery is essential for the charging speed, as two batteries have to be installed for this extreme fast charging and accordingly more space is required. But now to the two Redmi Note 11 smartphones.

Design:

The Redmi Note 11 Pro again relies on a front and back made of glass in combination with a plastic frame. Both sides are completely flat and the frame is accordingly continuous. With the Redmi Note 11, on the other hand, we have a plastic back and a curved frame that we already know from the Redmi Note 10 series. The Redmi Note 11 Pro measures 163.65 x 76.19 x 8.34 millimetres and weighs 207 grams (Pro + with 204g).

The normal Redmi Note 11 hardly differs from the Pro version with 164.56 x 75.78 x 8.75mm and 195g. Both smartphones have a fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button, a USB-C connection, stereo speakers and an infrared transmitter. The 3.5mm headphone jack has also made it back into both devices. The camera modules also look very similar: they are black, protrude slightly from the housing and the main sensor is highlighted by a large lens. The Redmi Note 11 Pro comes in 4 colour variants (black, dark green, purple and turquoise) and the normal Note 11 only in 3 colours (black, light blue and turquoise).

The Note 11 Pro uses a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120 Hertz. Xiaomi specifies the peak brightness as 1300 lux. With the Redmi Note 11, however, only a 6.6-inch IPS display with 90Hz is used. Both panels, however, have a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels and thus deliver razor-sharp content. The brightness is of course also lower on an IPS display, but Xiaomi saves the information in the data sheet here.

Performance:

A MediaTek processor from the Dimensity series is used in both Redmi Note 11 smartphones. The Note 11 relies on a powerful Dimensity 810 with a 2.4GHz clock in the performance cluster and a Mali-G57 GPU for graphically demanding tasks. The memory is available with 4, 6 or 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128 or 256GB UFS 2.2. The chip is said to achieve almost 400,000 points in the Antutu benchmark.

The processor in the Redmi Note 11 Pro is brand new and of course from Mediatek. The Dimensity 920, also manufactured using the modern 6-nanometer process, should then deliver almost 500,000 points in the Antutu. In the performance cluster, the Cortex-A78 cores clock with 2.5 GHz and a Mali-G68 GPU supports the processor for graphics. The memory remains with UFS 2.2 and LPDDR4X RAM, but with at least 6GB RAM in all versions.

With this configuration, both smartphones should offer a lightning-fast MIUI 12.5 system and 3D games from the Playstore should not be a problem either. Nowadays, users can hardly access the extra performance of the flagships. Expandable memory with micro SD is only mentioned on the Note 11, but that does not exclude it on the Note 11 Pro.

Camera:

According to the datas heet, we already know the triple camera of the Note 11 Pro from the Note 10 Pro: a 108-megapixel main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. There is also a 16-megapixel selfie camera in the punch-hole notch at the front. With the Redmi Note 11, you have to make do with a dual camera, which consists of a 50 megapixel Samsung sensor and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. As always, you have to wait for the review to evaluate the camera.

Connectivity:

Both smartphones work in the 4G and 5G networks. As usual, the frequencies are still used in China and will be supplemented accordingly when a performance is presented in this country. Above is the table you will find the information on the Chinese models. In terms of connectivity, there are otherwise significant differences between the Note smartphones. With the 11 Pro, everything is up-to-date with WiFi 6, dual GPS, Bluetooth 5.2 (LDAC / LHDC) and NFC. With the Redmi Note 11, however, you have to make do with WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.1 and normal GPS. The sensor equipment in both devices, however, includes the standards (acceleration, proximity and brightness sensor) as well as compass, infrared transmitter and gyroscope.

Both smartphones offer stereo sound, although the sound of the Note 11 Pro was tuned by JBL. The Redmi Note 11 has a 5000-mAh battery with 33W charging speed on board. The Redmi Note 11 Pro puts another on it with 5160-mAh and 67W charging speed.

Price

We will probably not see the Pro + version of the Redmi Note 11 in this country. The 11 Pro could, however, be an excellent new edition of the Note 10 Pro and replace the normal Note 11 with a Redmi Note 10 and 10S. When and whether we will see the Redmi Note 11 in Europe is completely open at this point. The chip crisis is causing problems for all manufacturers and Xiaomi had extended the release rhythm of the Redmi Note series to a year.

As usual, prices in China are very low. The Redmi Note 11 Pro starts at $282with 6 / 128GB and on 11.11 the price even drops to $250. The normal Note 11 5G changes hands for $187.

Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G Smartphone now available for just $329.99
